Paris Hilton defends her kids' viral 'Beauty and the Beast' Halloween costumes after backlash
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Paris Hilton has explained the inspiration behind her family's Halloween costumes after facing criticism for dressing as Princess Belle from Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast'.
The 'Simple Life' alum coordinated the themed looks with her husband, Carter Reum, and their children, London and Phoenix. Hilton clarified that her daughter's choice of character influenced the family's costumes, sharing how the children's favorite movie inspired their Halloween transformation.
Paris Hilton explains her family's 'Beauty and the Beast' Halloween costumes
Hilton addressed the criticism in an Instagram Reel on October 27, following her family's Halloween photoshoot, which she shared on Instagram on October 26. Some fans questioned her decision to dress as Belle while her two-year-old daughter, London, wore a Chip costume and her three-year-old son, Phoenix, dressed as Lumiere.
According to Hilton, she was not trying to draw attention to herself but was following her daughter's wishes. “Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies,” the hotel heiress commented on the Reel. “London said she wanted to dress up as Chip. She said it was her favorite character in the movie.”

For her transformation into Belle, the 45-year-old traded her signature blonde hair for a brown wig. She wore a gold ballgown featuring red rose accents, along with matching elbow-length gloves. Her husband, Carter Reum, joined her as the Beast, wearing a mask, furry gloves and boots alongside his regal attire.
Paris Hilton shares details about Phoenix and London's close bond
Hilton has previously spoken about the close relationship between her children, describing their bond during an interview with E! News in January.
“London and Phoenix are the twins that are always connected at the hip,” she said. Hilton also praised her son's relationship with his younger sister, adding, “Phoenix is the best big brother. He's so protective over her.”
She continued, “She just loves and adores and looks up to him so much. It's really amazing to watch.” Hilton's Halloween celebrations offered another glimpse into the family's time together, with the siblings sharing affectionate moments behind the scenes.
The socialite's comments about London's costume choice also explained why the family settled on the Disney theme, despite the criticism surrounding her decision to dress as Belle. The family's celebrations centered on their shared enjoyment of 'Beauty and the Beast', with each member taking on a character from the movie.
Hilton's account of the inspiration behind the costumes clarified that London's preference for Chip played a role in shaping the family's Halloween looks.
