Patrick Stewart delivered his own eulogy for stand-up routine over a decade before his death
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Patrick Stewart reportedly paid tribute to himself during a stand-up routine in 2015, more than a decade before his death.
The late Grammy winning actor died on October 28 at the age of 86. His death was announced through his Instagram page, which revealed that he had experienced a "brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia."
Patrick Stewart called himself 'a great man' in his eulogy
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, 11 years before his passing, Stewart, best known for playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard in 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', collaborated with Just For Laughs to host an event in his own honor.
During the event, the English actor hilariously delivered his own eulogy. Stewart began by joking about his age, saying, "This may come as a shock to some of you, but I am over 50 now. ...By exactly a quarter of a century."
The two-time Laurence Olivier Award winner then imagined how he would want people to remember him.

"How would I want to be remembered? What would I want people to say?" he asked before adding, "So in the event that this is it for me, I'd like to take a few moments to remember a great man whom I know has meant a lot to all of us here: Me."
Patrick Stewart recalled his childhood during the eulogy
His remark left the audience laughing as he continued with the mock tribute.
"Sir Patrick Stewart was more than just an actor. He was the greatest actor ever. He was also a husband, a father and a friend," he said.
The 'X-Men' actor also reflected on his childhood during the routine, recalling his early interest in performing at Mirfield Secondary Modern School.

"As a boy, Sir Patrick entertained his classmates at Mirfield Secondary Modern School where he dutifully honed his craft as an actor, developing his now signature baritone voice and made sweet, secret lunch hour love to the janitor's floor polishing machine."
Stewart concluded the mock eulogy with another playful tribute to himself, saying, "Sir Patrick Stewart, you will be missed. Godspeed."
Patrick Stewart reflected on mortality and losing fellow actors
Two years after the stand-up performance, Stewart spoke to The Mirror about death, aging and the loss of actors from his generation.

At the time, he opened up about how frequently he thought about his mortality, particularly while reflecting on the age difference between him and his wife.
"There is not a day goes by where I don't think of my mortality. I am 76 years old. I am married to a much younger woman and I cannot see her without reflecting on the differences in our ages and expectations and so forth."
Stewart also spoke about losing several actors from his generation, describing the period as particularly difficult for the entertainment industry.
"And this has been a horrible three or four years for my profession. My generation has been decimated. So many actors have gone," Stewart had added at the time.
