'She sacrificed. She didn't even sleep, she didn't even eat, and she got to one of the highest positions in the country', Amy Robbins said about Harp

WASHINGTON, DC: The controversy around President Donald Trump’s close aide Natalie Harp is persistently rising, and now a conservative commentator and CEO have come to her rescue, arguing that she should be a “poster child” of feminism.

The national political controversy surrounding her escalated last week after Georgia Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff criticized President Donald Trump's aide, specifically mentioning Harp by name in a viral speech.

Conservative CEO calls Natalie Harp a feminist icon

Conservative CEO Amy Robbins stunned many on CNN’s 'NewsNight with Abby Phillip' by declaring that Natalie Harp should be “the poster child” for feminists.

Her remark came after Phillip played a clip of The New York Times’s Maggie Haberman referring to Harp as Trump’s comfort “binkie.”

“According to people we’ve spoken to in the president’s world over several years now, she doesn’t really do much outside of work,” Haberman said of Harp.

“She works constantly for him. That is something that he has a huge amount of value in. I described her the other day as, as you know, a binkie for lack of a better way of putting it, a comfort blanket,” she added.

Amy Robbins immediately jumped on the comment, saying, “Everything that she just mentioned, you guys, is that Natalie Harp should be the poster child for modern-day feminists! She’s a hard worker. She is resourceful.”

As Adam Mockler of MediasTouch attempted to interject, Robbins added, “She climbed the corporate ladder. She sacrificed. She didn’t even sleep, she didn’t even eat, and she got to one of the highest positions in the country.”

“Hold on,” Phillip interrupted. “I’m sorry — not sleeping and not eating, writing unhealthy-sounding notes to your boss, never doing anything outside of work. Sounds like honestly something, somebody that needs an intervention. People love her and care about her probably should ask her how she’s doing.”

“This is not a double standard. This is not a case of a close inner circle, like you implied,” Mockler said to Robbins. “This is definitely not a case of feminism. It’s kind of sad."

Panel debates whether Natalie Harp's role is feminist

The two commentators discussed Harp’s close relationship with Trump, with one calling the situation “weird” and questioning whether it had anything to do with feminism.

"It made me sad reading these letters, and she seems to have a unique attachment to Donald Trump," Adam Mockler said.

"Feminism is not giving away your entire life to write sappy messages saying they are sorry 100 times, or acting like you have Stockholm Syndrome, for some reason,” Mockler added.

“Feminism is fighting for your own equality or pushing for, I don’t know, women to have equal rights. This feels like a really weird situation. Can you at least admit that it’s a weird situation?” he continued.

Robbins agreed that Harp’s relationship with Trump was unusual, saying, “It is odd. It is odd.”
