Prince William’s meeting with former Sussex friend David Beckham might ‘annoy’ Meghan Markle, says source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A royal expert has claimed that Prince William’s meeting with David Beckham might have “annoyed” Meghan Markle.
The Prince of Wales and the football legend reportedly reunited at Royal Airforce Northolt on Tuesday, October 1, as they celebrated the end of the London Air Ambulance’s ‘Up Against Time’ campaign, which raised around $20 million (£16 million) for two new helicopters.
Prince William and David Beckham celebrate 'success' of fundraiser
David Beckham said during the event, “We're here today to celebrate ... the success of the fundraiser for London's air ambulances which is something close to my heart and has been for a number of years.”
“I'm an East End boy so every time we saw them in the air it made us very proud. As soon as I was asked to be involved by Prince William it was something I was very honored (to do) in all honesty,” he revealed, as per The Mirror.
The meeting happened a day after Prince Harry, who along with his wife Meghan Markle, was once quite close to the Beckhams at one time, visited Britain for the WellChild Awards.
Prince William-David Beckham meeting probably proved ‘incredibly hard' for Meghan Markle
Following the event, journalist Andrew Gold asked a royal commentator Kinsey Schofield if the reunion would "annoy" the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
The expert answered: “Yes, I do think that this is something that will annoy Meghan Markle.”
She continued, “After two weeks of bad press since Prince Harry's been gone. I just think that she's probably livid right now, based on the reaction that she's getting from all of these stories. She's had to deal with that while Prince Harry's been out of town."
“That's gotta be incredibly hard for her. And then to see this kind of victory moment from Prince William.”
“A victory moment that she would tell you it should have been Harry's moment after the WellChild awards, that would be upsetting to her,” Schofield added.
Meghan and Harry had a close friendship with David and Victoria Beckham in the past. The Beckhams were guests at Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018 but their friendship reportedly strained after the Sussexes moved to the US.
David Beckham has always been a royal family supporter
Besides, another expert Richard Eden has explained why the Beckhams are closer to Prince William and Kate Middleton now than the Sussexes despite being their friends in the past.
The royal family feud that began with Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down from senior royal duties and quickly escalated after their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey has left David and Victoria unimpressed.
Also, the co-owner of Inter Miami CF has been a staunch supporter of the royals “who would stand up for the Queen’s Speech every Christmas, dressed in his Sunday best.”
Not only that, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, he “queued for 12 hours to view the Queen’s coffin when her body was lying in state.”
“Both David and Victoria put great importance on family and would never, ever turn on their relations the way that Harry and Meghan did,” the royal expert shared.
Eden added, “The truth is that Victoria never really liked Meghan much. She was friendly and welcoming to her but was not bothered about staying in touch.”
