WASHINGTON, DC: Prominent Democratic donor John Morgan announced he will not be fundraising for Vice President Kamala Harris, despite President Joe Biden’s recent endorsement of her for the Democratic nomination.

“You have to be enthusiastic or hoping for a political appointment to be asking friends for money. I am neither. It’s others turn now," Morgan, an Orlando-based attorney, expressed on the social platform X. “The donors holding the 90 million can release those funds in the morning. It’s all yours. You can keep my million. And good luck."

John Morgan predicts Kamala Harris' November defeat

In an interview with The Hill, John Morgan predicted a November defeat for Kamala Harris, expressing his preference for other potential candidates. “She would not be my first choice,” Morgan stated. “But it’s a done deal.” He mentioned Kentucky Gov Andy Beshear and West Virginia Sen Joe Manchin as preferable alternatives.

Morgan’s public withdrawal of support highlights potential divisions within the Democratic Party regarding Harris’ candidacy. However, other donors remain energized and supportive. The Harris campaign announced a significant fundraising milestone, raising nearly $50 million since Biden’s withdrawal from the race on Sunday.

Harris has also secured endorsements from influential Democratic figures, including former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Senators Mark Warner (D-Va) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass).

Additionally, Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro and Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer, who were considered as potential replacements for Biden, have thrown their support behind Harris.

Netizens rally behind Kamala Harris amid fundraising success

In response to prominent Democratic donor John Morgan's refusal to fundraise for Vice President Kamala Harris, social media users quickly came to her defense, highlighting her impressive fundraising efforts and expressing confidence in her candidacy.

A social media user tweeted, "50 million in less than 24hrs. She be fine."

Another dismissed Morgan's concerns, stating, "Joe Manchin at the top of the ticket ??? Mr. Morgan can keep his money."

A third claimed, "She doesn't need him."

"I will vote for whoever is on the ballot that is not Trump. I may not contribute $$$ like I did for Biden, but she will get my money. She will get the Nikki Haley vote for absolute sure!!" read a tweet.

"Who cares - she raised $50 mil last nite alone," asserted an individual.

"Are there any women billionaire donors? Where @Oprah! Open that check book !!" penned an individual.

"Don’t need you. Voters can take it from here," remarked a user.
