WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is facing intense backlash for deleting a retweet from his official government account that pointed out the "hypocrisy" of his praise for the Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity.

The ruling, which grants Donald Trump and all presidents immunity from legal consequences for official acts, has sparked significant controversy.

Rand Paul's praise for Supreme Court ruling vs 2013 filibuster against drone strikes

On Steve Bannon’s final 'War Room' podcast before reporting to prison, Paul called the ruling “good news.”

This stance sharply contrasts with his actions in 2013, when he famously filibustered the nomination of Obama’s CIA director John Brennan for 13 hours, demanding a recognition that presidents are not allowed to carry out drone strikes against American citizens on US soil.

The party of “law and order” now seems to be supporting the idea that a president can commit any crime, as long as it is declared an official act. Critics have seized on this apparent contradiction, accusing Paul and the GOP of hypocrisy.

Adding fuel to the fire, Paul quickly deleted the retweet that highlighted his conflicting positions, but not before it was widely noticed and shared.

This incident has led many to question Paul's consistency and has sparked further debate about the GOP's alignment with Trump's ideology.

Netizens explode with criticism of Senator Rand Paul following retweet controversy

Amid the backlash over his retweet praising the Supreme Court's ruling on presidential immunity, online critics have not held back in their criticism of Senator Paul.

A social media user tweeted, "Rand Paul is a traitor."

Another said, "They're all liars."

A third claimed, "Since Rand Paul likes the idea immediately arrest him and put him GITMO while he’s being investigated as an enemy combatant."

"Like handing the keys of your brand new sports car to a 2 year old and saying 'have at it'! Immunity for "official presidential acts"? He'll say everything he thinks or does is an 'official presidential act!" asserted a user.

"Libertarians aren’t principled. they just have strong opinions about shit that affects them personally," chimed another.

"Rand Paul once again proves he’s a hypocrite," read a tweet.

"Republicans have morphed in 40 years from Reagan’s free market ideology to king Trump’s full dictatorship government," claimed a social media user.

"This ruling is the start of project 2025," said an individual.

"The ruling basically ensured a Biden win, no undecided voter is going to give trump that much more power," tweeted a user.

"He loves an opportunity to show his traitorous worship of the fuhrer," penned an individual.
