WASHINGTON, DC: LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, a prominent financial supporter of Democrats, expressed concern about potential retaliation from former President Donald Trump if he wins the upcoming election.

Hoffman said that President Joe Biden would be a better choice for business leaders because he respects the rule of law.

Reid Hoffman warns of Donald Trump's retaliatory tendencies

Hoffman argued that Trump's tendency to seek revenge against political opponents poses a threat to business leaders who speak out against him.

“Maybe he will persecute his political opponents with the instruments of state,” Hoffman said on CNN.

"I’ve literally talked to business leaders who are fearful about speaking out against this because they’re fearful of retaliation," Hoffman asserted.

“Of course I’m concerned. When you feel fear is the precise time that when you should think about stepping up," he added.

Reid Hoffman emphasises 'rule of law' is creating 'spectacular' business opportunities

Hoffman believes Trump's promises of lower taxes and deregulation, which are typically favored by business leaders, are overshadowed by broader concerns.

“The rule of law is what has made America very special. It has made an environment for business that has been spectacular and a glowing beacon to the entire world," he stated, according to The Hill.

Hoffman said the rule of law is crucial for maintaining America's business environment and international standing.

“It’s the trust that other countries have in us in our system and how we interact, which allows our industries to export and allows the dollar to be the reserve world currency of the world,” he added.

“And that’s the reason why Biden is fundamentally no matter what more pro-business than Trump," Hoffman continued.

Internet reacts to Reid Hoffman's comments about Donald Trump

Hoffman’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online. Many social media users criticized him with one commenter on X stating, "Hey @reidhoffman, you're nowhere near important enough to have these worries."

One user on X wrote, "Step up!! Reid Hoffman is one of only a few billionaire business leaders speaking out against Former President Donald Trump."

Another praised him saying, "Kudos to @reidhoffman for stepping up and warning us all about Trump."

"The billionaires who won't speak out are cowards. Period. If they are like this when Trump has no power, they'll be worse if he does," wrote one.

However, not all feedback was supportive. Some critics attacked Hoffman personally, referencing past allegations and conspiracy theories.

"Reminder: Reid Hoffman was one of the most frequent visitors to Epstein island - and has long been linked to being a p*do. He also paid E Jean Carroll millions to fabricate her story on Trump… He’s one of the worst people to roam the planet…. What does this infer?" wrote one.

Another user criticized Hoffman’s mental state saying, "@reidhoffman Hey Reid, you may be a billionaire but your resistance to @realDonaldTrump is showing you have lost your mind! The media has lied to you about him for 8 years! Here is the Dems playbook! They do it then try to brainwash weak people that Trump does it! Wake up!"
