NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Florida Governor and GOP candidate Ron DeSantis recently made an appearance on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ where he briefly spoke to hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough about former President Donald Trump.

During this segment with DeSantis, Brzezinski posed a question about Trump being a “threat” to democracy, to which the Florida Governor responded with remarks on Trump’s last presidency and how the former President “didn't take some of the action he could have constitutionally taken.”

As the conversation on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ continued, the internet expressed their disappointment with DeSantis for not answering the question directly.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appears on ‘Morning Joe’

On ‘Morning Joe’, host Mika Brzezinski shared the “concerns” surrounding the presidential election and asked Ron DeSantis, “Governor, there’s a lot of concern about this presidential election, in terms of concerns about our democracy as we know it.”



 

She continued, “The Atlantic devoted an entire issue to the threat of a second Trump term. So my question to you is, do you think Donald Trump is a threat to democracy?”

To which, DeSantis answered, “No. Look, I think Donald Trump, when he was president, I think that he really didn't take some of the action he could have constitutionally taken. So I understand there’s a narrative saying he’s going to be much different this term.”

“But I look back, you know, what didn’t he do?” asked DeSantis, before adding, “He didn’t move forcefully to build the border wall that languished for years. He didn’t fire people like Anthony Fauci from the COVID task force when many conservatives, including me in Florida were saying they needed to go a different direction. He even gave Fauci an award on his last day in office.”

DeSantis also claimed that Trump “didn’t really take any action to reform the bureaucracy or curb the administration state.”

“I think what is being said would be him acting in ways that actually were not how he acted before. He deferred a lot of his presidency to some of these people he now criticizes,” said DeSantis.

Internet reacts to Ron DeSantis’ remarks on Donald Trump’s presidency

Following Ron DeSantis’ appearance on MSNBC, the internet’s response was prompt to the governor’s remarks on former President Donald Trump.

One user wrote, “I agree, I think BOTH Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are both threats to our country and to our constitutional rule of law,” while another wrote, “What's the point of having this spineless guy on?”



 



 

“Why did you give this dude so much airtime. He’s a terrible governor and candidate for president,” wrote one user, while another asked, “What kind of response was that?”



 



 

DeSantis continued to face backlash online as one user wrote, “Never answers the question,” and another said, “Ron DuhSantis is woefully unqualified.”
