LONDON, ENGLAND: King Charles’s relationship with Prince Harry has largely deteriorated following his infamous flight to America, but royal experts believe the British monarch “has always kept the door open” for his younger son to reconcile.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams recently analyzed the tense situation pervading the royal family and shared that while the relationship between the king and the Duke of Sussex may witness an improvement, things are not looking rosy for his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

Royal expert says King Charles is open to a reconciliation

Talking to The Sun, the royal expert recently claimed, "The King has always kept the door open to Harry, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he would invariably get a warm reception.”

Fitzwilliams explained, "It will take its time. But clearly, the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations. I don't think it would be too difficult, it depends how you define reconcile.”

However, the royal commentator added with caution, "I think there's a long way to go before Harry is bringing over Meghan and the children."

Fitzwilliams opined that though mending things with the King might be possible in the near future, it would not be smooth with Meghan.

The expert added, "Meghan is toxic. I'm not saying the Sussexes would launch any attacks to the royal family at this sort of time," and emphasized, "But what is very, very clear is that if they want to build trust, they have a long way to go."

He continued, "I never thought that Meghan would come over because of the hostility towards her here, but one has to emphasize that it's obvious from the opinion polls.”

"And of course, you'd get a press that was far from flattering, but that is linked to the Sussexes behavior over the last four years,” added the commentator.

The Montecito duke is scheduled to visit the UK in May to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his Invictus Games, but as per the reports, Meghan is not expected to accompany her husband.

Fitzwilliams shared, "It may not be definite that she isn't coming, but it's most unlikely. Meghan's reception would overshadow the message of the service, and you wouldn't want that.”

"So far as Harry is concerned, yes, undoubtedly I would have thought he would want to see his father,” shared the expert.

Fitzwilliams further commented on the ongoing speculation that Meghan might skip the visit to the UK citing security concerns.

Prince Harry visited the King back in February

Harry’s visit in May would be his first visit to his native country after his sister-in-law Kate, Princess of Wales, announced her cancer diagnosis.

Before the Princess’s diagnosis, King Charles was also diagnosed with cancer in February. The Duke of Sussex visited the ailing king during that time.

In an interview with Good Morning America, the Duke of Sussex shared during that time, "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.”

He also claimed, "Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that."

Harry further added, "I’ve got other trips planned that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, and so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can."

He also shared that he has seen families coming closer and mending rifts when a health crisis strikes. The younger prince shared, “I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together. I see it time and time again, and that makes me very happy."
