Rumer Willis began her speech by describing Tallulah Willis' unique spirit and creativity, saying, "From the very start, she stood out — not just for her creativity, which was wild and boundless, but for the way she seemed to exist on a slightly different frequency from the rest of us."

She fondly recalled Tallulah’s early years, sharing how her sister's imagination flourished in ways that set her apart, inventing her own worlds while other children were “coloring inside the lines,” as per People.

In addition to her creativity, Rumer pointed out Tallulah's sensitive nature, recognizing that sensory experiences can sometimes be overwhelming for her.

"A way of experiencing the world that was both beautiful and, at times, overwhelming. Things most people never think about — textures, noises, crowded rooms — could feel like insurmountable hurdles," she explained.

For years, Tallulah searched for clarity and understanding, working with therapists to help navigate these challenges.

Rumer vividly illustrated this journey, noting, "It was like she had all the ingredients for peace but was stuck trying to make a recipe without the instructions."

In the summer of 2023, Tallulah received her autism diagnosis, which Rumer described as a “homecoming” rather than a revelation. She remarked, “It gave her the permission to be exactly who she is, without apology or explanation.”

Since then, Rumer has seen her sister embrace herself completely, exuding grace and confidence. She remarked, “It’s like watching someone finally exhale after holding their breath for years.”

Rumer noted that Tallulah had found solace in her identity by embracing her quirks and sensitivities instead of trying to alter herself.

Rumer Willis celebrates Tallulah’s advocacy as a 'deep calling' to support women with autism

Rumer Willis emphasized that what makes Tallulah Willis' journey especially significant is her ability to share her experiences to support and help others.

She commended her sister for her dedication to creating a supportive community, particularly for women who receive autism diagnoses later in life.

"Tallulah has placed her energy into building a community where others — especially women, who are often overlooked — can find understanding and belonging," Rumer continued. “This isn’t work for her; it’s a deep calling to show up and be of service.”

She emphasized the significance of awareness and advocacy, especially for women diagnosed later in life, stating, "I feel very fortunate… And with that comes my responsibility and my desire to continue to create awareness and advocacy."

Reflecting on her journey, Tallulah expressed that receiving the diagnosis provided her with validation and made her feel less misunderstood, saying, “These things are not just in my head or… I’m not too much.”
