NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Sean Hannity asserted on Monday night that the provisions of the proposed border bill would be an "unmitigated disaster" for America.

This development followed the much-anticipated Senate Republican funding bill, which allocates $110 billion, including $20 billion earmarked for enhancing security along the southern border to address illegal immigration.

Following this development, the official Fox News account turned to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report on the issue, as numerous individuals on the internet shared their thoughts on the matter.

Sean Hannity calls border bill an ‘unmitigated disaster’

Fox News took to X and wrote, “SEAN HANNITY: This bill does ‘absolutely nothing’ to secure the border.”

In Sean Hannity’s monologue, he said, “But first, tonight, the US Senate. They have released their long-awaited border legislation. And by the way, it's not just about borders, it's about Ukraine.”

“It's funding 60 billion more and Israel funding only 14 billion. Now, this bill does absolutely nothing to secure the border. It would be an unmitigated disaster. And by the way, every Republican should strongly be opposed to this.”

He continued, “[The border bill] would mandate legal representation for all illegal immigrants. It adds 50,000 extra employment and family reunification visas. It gives Biden the power to funnel asylum claims to ports of entry.”

“If more than 5,000 illegal immigrants cross each day for seven days, after which the ports must process a minimum of 1,400 claims a day. And what's worse is the power can only be used for a limited number of days and sunsets after three years, that shows the headlines.”

Hannity further said, “Look at New York City, where the governor, Kathy Hochul, with Mayor Eric Adams of New York City, welcomed illegal immigrants with open arms. We are open. We're a sanctuary state. Well, it's wreaking havoc in New York.”

“This morning, New York City police officers conducted a raid on a Venezuelan gang tied to dozens of robberies. And, of course, the brutal assault on NYPD officers last week,” Hannity concluded.

Internet weighs in on border bill issue

Many X users shared their opinion on Sean Hannity’s take on the border bill.

One person slammed Hannity, saying, “Your show doesn't do anything positive for America. Actually it yields bad results for America,” and another said, “Weird. The border patrol says otherwise. And they know more than a millionaire elitist talking head.”

An X user said, “Biden is trying to put the death nail in the USA [sic] coffin,” and another added, “Another bill written by Cons failed us again,  Sean.”

One more person added, “Nothing will change unless a Republican president is elected,” and another expressed, “Then what are [sic] the GOP doing to secure it?”
