WASHINGTON, DC: Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis refuted rumors on Monday, May 13, that his spouse, Casey DeSantis, is considering a bid to run for office, as per The Hill.

Notably, a question was posed to him during a news conference on Monday regarding whether his wife might think about running for Florida governor in 2026 as he concludes his second term in office.

Because of her efforts as Florida's first lady, he added, some have suggested she run for governor of Florida.

Ron DeSantis says his wife has 'zero' interest in running for office

DeSantis said, "If I had to characterize her interest in getting into the political thicket as a candidate, I would characterize it as zero. She’s had a front-row seat on all the nonsense that goes on when you do it."

Since Florida only permits governors to hold office for two terms in a row, there has been talk about who would seek to be the governor. According to a recent Florida Atlantic University (FAU) survey, Rep Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who only earned 16 percent of the vote, would lose to Casey DeSantis, who got 38 percent, in a hypothetical GOP primary for governor.

Moreover, in the poll conducted last month, 26 percent of respondents indicated they were unsure of the candidate they would back, and 20 percent said they would vote a different one.

Notably, Casey has been a key player in both DeSantis' presidential and gubernatorial campaigns, as well as a well-known figure in the administration.

A user also said, "He hasn't asked her, but that's what her answer would be once he told her what to say," whereas one mentioned, "Yeah, we don't need two morons."

A person also wrote, "Shut up and who cares."
