NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Shirley MacLaine opens up about a "scary" encounter she had with Donald Trump in the 1980s, claiming the former president made her feel so uncomfortable that she had to escape the event they both attended.
In her upcoming book, 'The Wall of Life,' the 90-year-old Oscar winner for Best Actress in 'Terms of Endearment' details the unsettling moment, recalling how the now GOP presidential nominee's behavior became obvious the moment they met.
Shirley MacLaine reveals being uncomfortable meeting Donald Trump
Shirley MacLaine claims she felt uncomfortable after Trump "started pulling at his tie," during their meeting and that she "could tell immediately” what he may have been thinking, as per Daily Mail.
"It was scary just how obvious he was being. He even figured out a way to try to stop me from leaving, but I had to get out of there," she alleges.
At the time of their interaction, Trump, now 78, was a rising real estate mogul who had already begun making waves on talk shows like Oprah and David Letterman.
By 1982, his growing fortune landed him on the Forbes List thanks to his share of his family's $200 million net worth, and he was still married to his first wife, Ivana Trump.
The twice-impeached former president married his first wife, Ivana, in 1977, and they remained together until their divorce in 1991. He later tied the knot with Marla Maples in 1993, but the marriage ended just four years later. Trump eventually wed Melania Knauss in 2005.
Donald Trump faced multiple accusations from various women
Shirley MacLaine, the legendary 'Being There (1979)' actress, recalls the discomfort she felt with Donald Trump, ultimately prompting her to make a quick exit.
Though the exact year of their meeting remains unclear, the story sheds light on yet other troubling claims involving the former president, who has faced multiple accusations over the years.
Trump has consistently and emphatically denied the accusations from multiple women. In several cases, he and his team have specifically countered certain claims while also making sweeping denials of all allegations.
Shirley MacLaine opens up about her marriage to Steve Parker
Shirley MacLaine dedicates her forthcoming book to her ex-husband Steve Parker, who she reveals was a spy.
The two were married from 1954 until their divorce in 1982 and were known for having an open marriage with multiple affairs. The pair share a daughter, Stephanie Parker who they had in 1956.
"One evening Steve took me to his favorite restaurant—he grew silent—and I knew he was grappling with his next words," she penned.
"You must never tell anyone what I'm going to say, but I think you should know. I am undercover with military intelligence, you must promise me your silence.''
She added, "I'm not sure I would say that Steve and I had a happy marriage, but it was a satisfied one. He was gone too much for it to be truly happy. He had a mistress in Japan while I had whomever I was with."
The highly anticipated 'The Wall of Life' is set to release on October 22.
