SPRING, TEXAS: Simone Biles did not hold back her reaction to President Joe Biden following Donald Trump’s election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

On Wednesday, November 6, shortly after the results were announced, Biles posted on X (formerly Twitter), calling for decisive action in Joe Biden's remaining months.

Simone Biles' plea to Joe Biden

In her plea to the president, Simone Biles wrote, “Mr Biden, I need you to stand up, straighten your back, and make some things shake before your departure."

She concluded the post with, “xoxo the women in America.”

In a follow-up post, the celebrated gymnast stated, “We deserve better,” conveying her frustration over what she sees as setbacks in women’s rights under Trump’s leadership.

Donald Trump's second term amid concerns over women’s rights

Donald Trump, who previously served as president from 2017 to 2021, is set to reenter the Oval Office after winning 277 electoral college votes.

During his first term, the former president made moves that influenced the future of women’s rights, particularly by nominating conservative justices to the Supreme Court, according to Daily Mail.

His appointments, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, helped secure the majority that eventually overturned Roe v Wade in 2022, ending federal protections for abortion rights.

Since then, abortion restrictions have taken effect in 13 states, intensifying the debate on women’s healthcare.

Though the 78-year-old politician stated in October on Truth Social that he would “not support a federal abortion ban under any circumstances,” many critics, including Biles, remain concerned about women’s rights in his second term.

LeBron James joins in expressing concern over Donald Trump's victory

NBA star LeBron James also voiced his apprehension over the future after the reelection of Donald Trump, who is set to take office on January 20, 2025.

Known for previously endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, James posted on Instagram with a picture of him and his 10-year-old daughter, Zhuri.

“Heavy on my heart and mind this am my princess...promise to protect you with everything I have and more!! We don't need their help!" read his caption.

Internet criticizes Simone Biles' plea to Joe Biden

Reacting to Simone Biles' urging Joe Biden to act following Donald Trump's victory, netizens criticized the Olympic champion.

One user on X wrote, "You mean something he should have done during the Biden/Harris Administration over the last 4 years? Why would he do it now?"

Another tweeted, "You know that women aren't losing any rights, don't you? I mean, if anything, we'll ensure men aren't competition against you and your fellow women. You're welcome!"

"The time to ask him to do that was 3 years ago when they had the house and the senate," a netizen commented, while someone remarked, "America has spoken. Read the room Simone!!"

"Sorry Simone but the guy barely knows what freaking day it is or that he is President so you’re asking for a lot," an individual opined, and another wrote, "If he isn’t well enough to run for the next election, why do you think he’s capable of this?"
