Simone Biles jokes about why she and Taylor Swift haven’t become NFL game day besties
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: While NFL fan-favorite Taylor Swift has made her presence known at games, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles has yet to join her – though she’s hoping to catch up soon.
Biles was recently asked whether she has had an opportunity to “bond” with the pop sensation during the current NFL season. “I’m currently on tour so unfortunately not,” Biles, 27, told Access Hollywood on October 23, adding, “I’ve missed a lot of games. But as soon as we finish tour, then yes.”
She then noted with a laugh, “But you usually don’t bond with opponents.”
Simone Biles hints at friendly NFL rivalry with Taylor Swift
This playful rivalry stems from Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, currently playing for the Chicago Bears, while Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, stars for the Kansas City Chiefs.
As of now, the two teams won’t face each other in the regular season, but Biles is hopeful for future opportunities to cheer for her husband up close once her busy schedule settles.
Biles has been on the road with Athleta’s Gold Over Golden American tour, which has captivated audiences with performances by elite gymnasts, including Biles, Jade Carey, and Jordan Chiles.
This innovative, concert-style show has brought the intensity and artistry of gymnastics to venues nationwide, celebrating each gymnast’s journey to championship.
Eager to support her husband on the field after the tour wraps on November 3, Biles is more than prepared for the occasion.
“Everything is shipped to Chicago already so I’m ready with gear,” she shared as per US Weekly, hinting at a stylish NFL ensemble.
She added, "Whenever I reach out to some of our NFL designers I just let them take control and do it.”
Simone Biles reflects on Olympic legacy and future in new Netflix docuseries
Fresh off her monumental 2024 Summer Olympics performance in Paris, Simone Biles also recently launched her own collection with Athleta and debuted her Netflix docuseries, 'Simone Biles Rising', giving fans a close look at her record-breaking career.
Episode 4 of the series, which premiered on October 25, gives viewers insight into Biles’ reflection on her Olympic legacy and the next steps in her career.
“What I’ll miss most about gymnastics is the freedom with my body,” Biles says.
“The ability that I have in the gym is not normal. But I’ve had to work in other areas of my life, and that’s taught me the lessons and brought me to be who I am today.”
She added that her proudest accomplishment is “staying true to myself and never swaying from that.”

Biles attended a Hollywood premiere for the episode, participating in a red-carpet Q&A session where she spoke about the importance of growth beyond the mat.
When asked about her legacy, Biles responded thoughtfully, saying, “Usually, if you’re using the word legacy, it means you’re done. So I don’t have an answer for you.”
