PARIS, FRANCE: Jonathan Owens has certainly redeemed himself in the eyes of many after his controversial remarks about wife Simone Biles.

The Chicago Bears player faced significant backlash after an interview on 'The Pivot' podcast in December 2023, where he implied he was unfamiliar with Biles before they matched on a dating app and suggested that he was the ‘catch’ in his marriage to Simone Biles, as reported by Nicki Swift.com.

Despite the criticism, Jonathan Owens has since made efforts to make amends and show his genuine admiration for Biles.

In a recent interview with the NFL, Jonathan Owens spoke with notable enthusiasm about Simone Biles’ 2024 Olympic journey, a stark contrast to his previous comments. Body language and behavior expert Greg Hartley, who spoke exclusively with Nicki Swift, analyzed Owens' demeanor and observed a significant shift when the conversation moved from his football career to his wife.

The 'Good Morning Football' interviewer began with, "We are going to talk football with you, but we'd be remiss not to talk about your bride."

Hartley observed that Owens was intensely focused when football was mentioned, noting, "At 'we are going to talk football', face goes straight — ready for business is what I read there."

However, when the topic shifted to his travels to see his wife at the Olympics, Owens appeared more cheerful. Hartley commented, "Amusement as he talks about going to see Simone ... Smiles when amused straight-faced when discussing football."

Hartley noted that Owens' mood changed dramatically as he spoke about Biles.

Owens revealed that the team is making content about his travels for his wife, and he was excited about it. Hartley noted, "Even when talking about folks shooting B reel for publicity, he shows amusement and a slight smile."

Hartley observed that whenever Biles or anything related to the gymnast comes up, Owens shows more emotion compared to when he talks about his job.

Hartley noted that while body language and spoken words can sometimes conflict, this doesn’t appear to be the case with Owens. Hartley commented, "Here I see congruency between mouth and body language and a guy who takes his job seriously. Generally, yes, he seems lighthearted about most things and serious about work."

Owens' admiration for Biles is evident in the interview, and he demonstrated the same support when attending the Olympics to cheer her on.

Body language expert Judi James also makes the same observation as Hartley and she believes Owens has come far from his days of feeling 'insecure'.

"If anything, his one comment about being a catch might have come from a place of insecurity," James shared with The Sun.

Judging by the affection the couple lavish on each other and their displays of love in public, she says there is little need for fans to worry about Biles not being appreciated.

“Jonathan’s historical comments seem to have haunted him," she said. "Now he looks completely submissive and shows an immersive interest in his wife and the relationship," she added and even went as far as to say that "Jonathan looks slightly in awe of Simone."

There are aspects of his behavior that have changed too, says James. Observing their photos on Instagram, James noticed that Jonathan "gravitates" toward his wife. In some of the poses he holds her close as if announcing that "she was his priority".

He is often seen turning his head away from the camera and gazing at Simone's face, says James and all these just go on to indicate the "strong signals of sexual attraction between them both" she feels.

Simone, however, has never taken offense with his 'catch' comment.

During a December 2023 interview on 'The Pivot' podcast, Jonathan Owens mentioned that he was unfamiliar with Simone Biles before meeting her on a dating app, saying, "I never really paid attention to gymnastics, so it piqued my curiosity."

He also suggested he was the "catch" in their relationship, which didn't sit well with many, given Biles' renowned status as an athlete.

Despite the criticism, Biles defended her husband's remarks on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, clarifying, "He never said I wasn't a catch. He said he was a catch because he is."

Owens has since made amends, demonstrating his admiration for Biles during an NFL interview where he discussed her 2024 Olympic journey.
