Janelle Brown warns Meri Brown about financial risks of Coyote Pass property
In the episode, Janelle Brown told Meri Brown, "If we don't make it, he can repossess the whole thing," referring to a 75-day deadline to settle the debt. She added, "We will lose it."
As Meri tried to downplay the concern, saying she wasn't worried about the financial situation, Janelle began to question the way she was being perceived within the estranged family.
In a confessional, she revealed, "I am beginning to realize that Kody has been telling everybody that I am somehow controlling the [family’s] money. And trust me, if I really was, we would be in a very different position."
Meri, who ended her relationship with Kody in January 2023, seemed to confirm Janelle's suspicions, saying, "I've been under the impression for many, many years that you're the one who's been taking care of all the family finances."
Janelle Brown claims Kody Brown has been 'putting her off' on property payments for years
The conversation took an uncomfortable turn as Janelle Brown alleged that Kody Brown had been "putting [her] off" for years regarding the property payments saying that he had "no money."
She doesn't think it's true. "Well, there was always money if we prioritized it," remarked Janelle.
Meri reassured Janelle, saying, "I don’t think there’s really any need for protection," and expressed a desire to stay neutral in the situation, noting, I’m not going to take sides. I’m not in the ex-wives club. I’m not in the Kody and Robyn club."
The uncomfortable exchange ended with no resolution. Janelle, still feeling uncertain about her position, said, "I feel like I better protect myself," to which Meri simply responded, "Sorry that you feel like that."
The tensions around finances weren’t the only topic of discord within the family. Earlier seasons of 'Sister Wives' had already revealed the complex dynamics between Kody and his wives.
Meri Brown reveals Kody Brown's mixed signals about their marriage
Meri Brown, in particular, has shared how Kody Brown had led her to believe their marriage could be salvaged, only to later express a desire to part ways.
"He led me to believe that he would work on things," shared Meri. However, Kody later admitted that he no longer had the desire to work on the marriage, calling it "mixed messages."
Janelle, too, made it clear in previous interviews that Kody's strained relationships with their children played a significant role in their split. She explained, "The big spark for me was when his relationship broke down with my children and he didn't seem like he would move heaven and earth to fix it."
Meanwhile, Kody's marriage with Robyn Brown also appears to be facing difficulties. Despite the couple's recent attempts to prioritize monogamy, she admitted that their relationship was at an all-time low.
"We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage," confessed Robyn, citing feelings of rejection and uncertainty. Kody, in turn, expressed a crisis of confidence, stating, "I can’t look myself in the mirror and say, 'Hey, dude. I love you.'"
