Cori Broadus admits not feeling confident with her 'natural body'

"I’m really loving the idea of getting married, but being the center of attention is kinda scary," Cori Broadus admitted in a confessional.

"I wear baggy clothes because I’m not the most confident with my natural body."

Diagnosed with lupus at just six years old, Cori has faced many challenges over the years, but her insecurities came to the forefront when she tried on her form-fitting, corseted white gown designed by celebrity designer Michael Costello, per E! News.

Though the gown fit beautifully, Cori’s reaction was filled with emotion.

"It just wasn’t what I really wanted," she said through tears. Turning to Michael and her bridesmaids, she added, "I don’t like my body. I hate my body."

Her best friend, Itali Miller, tried to reassure her. "I’m being honest: You being a bigger bodied girl, I honestly think that this is really flattering your body," Itali told her.

But Cori wasn’t convinced.

"Do you see how I dress on a daily?" Cori responded. "I wear bigger clothes so people can’t see how I naturally look."

Cori Broadus reveals 'battling with myself every day' over body image

In a heartfelt confessional, Cori Broadus elaborated on how her body image struggles have shaped her confidence and identity.

"Sometimes I do feel like the outcast," she admitted.

"I am the bigger friend, I am the chocolate friend, and the sick friend. It reminded me that’s why I don’t go shopping, that’s why I dress the way I dress, because I don’t like feeling like this when I put clothes on."

The pressure of finding the perfect dress has only amplified her feelings.

"My dress, it’s not making me feel safe or sexy," she shared.

"I think what probably makes me feel a way too is that, all my friends, they little. I’m on the heavier side. The truth is I’m battling with myself every day."

Cori also revealed how these insecurities have affected her relationship with fiance, Wayne Duece. Despite his unwavering love and support, she struggles to understand his devotion.

"It’s just so weird to me that Wayne got on one knee," she said.

"Sometimes I’ll be like, ‘Why? Why do you love me this much? What do you see in me?’ So, I think trying on the dress kinda brought me back to that place," she said.
