WASHINGTON: Former President Donald Trump publicly embarrassed Chris Christie, his potential GOP rival for the 2024 presidential race, on Monday. Trump shared a photo of the ex-governor of New Jersey sporting inappropriate shorts.

Despite delivering a robust debate performance, Christie lags behind in fifth place nationally. His primary focus has been on New Hampshire, where he currently holds the third position.

Christie likely faced frustration when he cautioned that Trump was a "danger to this country" on Friday, December 8, during his address from the Granite State stump. In response, the former president targeted Christie on Truth Social and Instagram.

"Not fit for office, mentally or physically. We need strong people not suffering from a harsh terminal disease, TDS, TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!!!," Trump wrote in the caption.

Christie is shown standing awkwardly in the image, wearing belted shorts in khaki with a white shirt tucked in.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's fat-shaming Chris Christie

Many internet users criticized Donald Trump for fat-shaming Chris Christie. A user tweeted, "He's so delusional."

Another user wrote, "That is a very old picture. Mr. Trump must own the 'wicked stepmother mirror from Snow White,' since he believes he’s in great shape?"

Another person commented, "His response to kevs (sic) not eating remark was 'I was actually overeating' says as much about his huge waistline as it does his."

While one wrote, "I believe @GovChristie need more a stylist than a weight loss. That’s a terrible way to dress yourself. Also, (shocker) weight is genetically based for every human on Earth. That’s why it’s almost impossible to lose weight when you are obese."
