WASHINGTON, DC: Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) attacked former President Donald Trump in a Tuesday, April 9 interview, saying he's attempting to come off as moderate on the abortion issue and implying that his official stance does not represent any core "belief," The Hill reported.

On MSNBC’s 'Morning Joe', the former house speaker stated, "Well, first, let me say the issue about a woman’s right to choose, it’s a democracy issue. This is about freedom, freedom of women to make their decision, families to make their decisions."

She added, "So, when — what’s his name — said what he said yesterday, he either is stupid or he thinks the rest of us are stupid."

Trump announced his long-awaited formal stance on abortion on Monday, stating that states should be free to choose their abortion laws rather than taking a strong stand against any federal abortion ban.

During the Tuesday interview, Pelosi slammed the media's coverage of the ex-POTUS' announcement.

She said, "He takes great pride in overturning Roe v Wade. Takes great pride in it. And then the way the press wrote it up just cracked me up because it said, ‘Donald Trump believes that state—’ he doesn’t believe anything. He believes in his political survival, and that’s what he’s trying to accommodate."

"But you can’t be a little bit pro-life. You’re either there or you’re not there. And people see that. So, he may have outsmarted — well, I hate to say outsmarted because, what? It doesn’t seem to apply — but why would the press say ‘he believes?’ He doesn’t believe anything," asserted the California Rep.

Naturally, the right was divided over Trump's official stance on abortion policy. While some applauded the move, pointing out that embracing a stricter restriction might drive away important voting demographics ahead of the November election, others criticized the former POTUS, claiming his centrist stance had let both sides down.

One wrote, "She's the biggest liar in modern politics," while another added, "Oh, so what's her name has found her voice but not her memory?"

A person wrote, "I love Nancy Pelosi!" "Nancy Pelosi is right, what Trump said was either stupid or insulting to our intelligence," expressed someone else.

"Can't wait to hear she's finally in prison and all funds confiscated!" stated one more.

An individual declared, "Nancy Pelosi is projecting. It's how she built her career and as a bonus she has committed treason."

"She definitely is , she should speak for herself," expressed one more, and another person wondered, "He’s left it up to the states! Why is that a bad thing?"
