LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert didn't hold back in his critique of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's recent social media blunder in a now-deleted Father's Day post depicting a questionable barbecue setup.

"Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years, but my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we’re having a barbeque with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill!" Schumer posted on X on Sunday, adding, "Father’s Day Heaven!"

Schumer's BBQ blunder sparks nationwide mockery

Schumer's post, which showcased his daughter and wife's first backyard barbecue featuring hot dogs and hamburgers, drew widespread ridicule across the political spectrum.

Colbert, known for his liberal leanings, took aim at Schumer during his show, highlighting the Senate leader's culinary faux pas.

"A hot June day is a great time for a cookout. Just ask Senate Majority Leader, and raisin in the trail mix insulted that you keep avoiding it, Chuck Schumer," Colbert said.

"Schumer garnered some controversy this weekend when he was accused of staging a fake Father's Day photo of himself grilling."

Colbert quipped while showcasing the infamous photo to his audience, "'At first glance, it just looks just like any nice grandpa, wearing the shirt he napped in, offering you a delicious bun-less burger. But look closer, and you'll see, he put cheese on an uncooked patty!'"

"It's a little rare for my taste," Colbert joked. "We've got all the fixin's: we got ketchup, mustard, e. coli, salmonella.'"

"'Now, Schumer captioned the photo with 'Father's Day Heaven!' Which is where you're gonna be if you eat one of his burgers,'" Colbert said.

Schumer's office did not respond to inquiries about the contentious photo from outlets like Fox News Digital, leaving the incident open to further scrutiny and humor in the media.

While Schumer did post another, less controversial Father's Day message that remains online, the damage was done.

Social media reacts: Colbert's baby hands and Schumer's BBQ blunder become twitter fodder

Social media has been ablaze with reactions to Stephen Colbert's humorous take on Chuck Schumer's recent barbecue blunder.

One user said, "I wouldn't trust Colbert's delicate baby hands with any form of cooking. Especially not near any sharp objects. Baby Hands Colbert!"

Another user replied, "Senator Ground Chuck on a gas grill. Hypocrite much?"

One commented, "And this coming from his gay dance partner."

Another added, "Chuck Schumer’s grilling mistake is now a scandal in eyes of the MAGA cult. Trump’s 34 felony counts? Yeah it’s a witch hunt."

One replied, "Ground Chuck. A man who can’t cook a cheeseburger isn’t a man. He’s a Schumer."
