LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert expressed his dismay over the US Supreme Court's recent decision to hear former President Trump's immunity argument, delaying further his criminal trial related to the 2020 election interference probe.

According to Fox News, 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' host went on to jokingly caution the justices to be "careful" with their ruling, suggesting that "Seal Team 6 currently works for Joe Biden".

The Supreme Court's agreement to review whether Trump has immunity from prosecution holds significant legal and political implications for the nation, especially in an election year. Fast-tracking the appeal, the justices plan to hear oral arguments in late April, with a ruling expected by late June.

Colbert's witty critique: A blend of outrage and humor

Colbert's monologue not only highlighted his outrage but also added humor to the situation. He took a dig at the court's decision, implying that the delay in Trump's trial violated the Constitution.

"In the landmark case of ‘People v Do Laws Matter?’ Seriously, what is going on?" Colbert complained.

"One more of these steaming turds and I swear to God on the ghost of John Marshall I will drive to Washington and rub my a** on your gavels!"

Emphasizing the urgency of the matter, Colbert pointed to the unanimous decision by the Washington DC court of appeals that Trump is not immune from prosecution in the 2020 election interference case.

He expressed concern that the Supreme Court's decision might be delayed until late September or October due to the defense being granted 88 days to prepare.

Colbert's humorous caution: Seal team 6 and SCOTUS

Using Trump's legal team's own argument as a comedic tool, Colbert warned the Supreme Court about potentially upsetting President Biden.

"Kind of weird that SCOTUS feels the need to consider whether or not laws exist," he remarked. "A quick reminder to the court: Be careful how you rule on this one, because Seal Team 6 currently works for Joe Biden."

Later in his monologue, Colbert playfully declared the Supreme Court "unconstitutional" and "divorced from reality," suggesting a disconnect from the desires of the American people.

The sentiment of dissatisfaction with the court's decision extended beyond Colbert, with liberal hosts on MSNBC, such as Rachel Maddow, expressing concerns about potential ramifications.

Maddow speculated a doomsday scenario where Trump could become a dictator for life if he wins the election based on the court's decision.

"The conclusion that we can arrive at now, based on what they have done, without having to wait for the ruling, is that they’re ensuring that Trump will not face trial, and when they inevitably rule that presidents aren’t immune from prosecution after they leave office, what that will tell Donald Trump, if by then he is president, is that he can never leave the office of the presidency," she warned on Thursday's 'All In With Chris Hayes'.
