WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) recently opened up about Donald Trump naming him as one of his picks for vice president, by saying he is rather more focused on getting the 77-year-old GOP candidate reelected.

On Sunday, during an interview with Fox News, the anchor Maria Bartiromo asked Trump to name his picks for vice president. The 77-year-old mentioned Scott and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as his top picks for his deputy.

On Monday, February 5, Scott responded to the speculation as he said to Fox News Digital that his focus is to ensure four more years of Trump’s presidency by defeating the incumbent President Joe Biden.

What did Tim Scott say?

Tim Scott said that he has been ensuring the win of the GOP primary frontrunner, saying, “The only thing I can tell you is that the one thing we need is four more years of President Donald Trump.”

Scott who dropped from the presidential race last year, praised Trump’s leadership and said, “We were better off under Trump," per The Hill.

“In order for us to be successful, the one thing I can’t afford to do is take my eye off the ball,” he said before explaining, “The eye on the ball means making sure that President Trump gets four more years.”

Scott doubled down on his praise of Trump on Tuesday, February 6 as well, when he was asked to comment on Trump picking him as one of his probable vice-presidential candidates.

During an appearance on ‘Fox & Friends’ on Tuesday, he said, “But what we do do is focus on what does America need right now and the moment, the best alternative is four more years of President, frankly, Donald Trump. Why? Because of success we had.”

Slamming President Biden, he said, “Joe Biden has devastated the economy. A millennial cannot buy a house.”

He continued, “Under President Trump, we had 2 percent inflation. Law and order was restored.”

As host, Brian Kilmeade asked Scott if he was being considered for a Cabinet position under Trump’s presidency, he did not say whether he would accept the position.

He continued, “Listen, I got to tell you, being a United States senator is a pretty cool gig from my perspective.”

He continued, “I’m a kid that grew up in poverty. My only goal is to make sure that kids growing up in poverty today see themselves in the White House, see themselves running their own business, see themselves graduating from college.”

What did Donald Trump say about Tim Scott?

On Sunday, Donald Trump named Tim Scott as his potential running mate. He said, “We have some many good people in the Republican Party,” per The Independent.

He told to Bartiromo, “I called Tim Scott and I told him ‘you’re a much better candidate for me than you are for yourself.’”

He added, “When I watched Tim, he was fine, he was good, but he was very low-key. I watched him in the last week, defending me, and sticking up for me and fighting for me.”

Apart from Scott, Trump also named Kristi Noem as his other pick.

Internet was divided in Tim Scott's words

Internet users were divided in their opinion as some of them favored the South Carolina Republican for his unwavering support of Donald Trump. Some of the other internet users, however, criticized him for "shameless fawning of Trump."

One of the social media users said, "He's an Uncle Tom."

"Another sell-out to political power," criticized someone else.

Another social media user said, "Tim Scott is an embarrassment —his shameless fawning of Trump is repulsive."

"As if either of those windbags will ever get close to the White House," said a repulsed netizen.

"Maybe he should be more focused on the job he was elected to do," declared another user.

However, several other users supported him as well, saying, "Tim Scott is good people. Glad he is being considered."

"Good on Tim, he speaks the truth," said another fan of Scott.

Another social media user fawned, "Good man Tim Scott, respect."
