Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields raises $20M

Daisy Chain Fields helped raise money for nonprofit organizations that work in the interests of women and girls. Initially, Rodrigo announced that $10 million would go to 10 charities.

The total doubled after philanthropist Melinda French Gates pledged another $10 million, bringing the amount raised to $20 million. The funds will support organizations including Planned Parenthood, the National Women’s Law Center, the Center for Reproductive Rights and Baby2Baby.

Among the guests was Sarah McLachlan, who appeared onstage with Rodrigo to perform 'Building a Mystery' and 'Angel,' the latter dedicated to the late Dolly Parton. Alanis Morissette then performed 'Ironic' with Rodrigo, while Stevie Nicks performed 'Landslide' with Rodrigo.

Before the show, Rodrigo thanked all the artists who participated in the event for free. "The fact that they took the time out of their insanely busy schedules to come and do this festival for free is something I'm so grateful for," she said.

"Because of that, and because of all of you who came to hang out today, I can stand on the stage and say we are donating $10m to 10 incredible charities." "I really believe that giving women the tools to decide their own futures and live healthy lives free of violence and discrimination is the most effective tool we have at changing the world for the better."

Rodrigo introduced Melinda French Gates and called her “one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met”. “She’s devoted her life to empowering women and girls that might have otherwise been forgotten,” Rodrigo said.

“She’s generous and brave and has done so much good in this world, and I’m totally floored because as well as being in attendance here tonight, she’s pledged to double every dollar that we made here today to a grand total of funds being donated to $20m. I’m so grateful!”

Daisy Chain Fields hints at 2027 return

The $20 million raised at Daisy Chain Fields will be divided equally among 10 organizations. The beneficiaries are Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego and Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health.

Other organizations are the National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center and Planned Parenthood.

A post shared on its Instagram page featured photos of the large crowds at the event and hinted at its future, with the caption, “One year down, and we’ll just keep growing.”
