WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Tommy Tuberville sent shockwaves through the political world by matter-of-factly promising mass incarceration of Donald Trump’s critics if the former president wins back power in 2024.

The Alabama Republican and staunch Trump loyalist openly vowed to aid imprisoning generic "these people" to raucous applause at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, February 22, as per Newsweek.

His authoritarian remarks represent the latest escalation in Trump’s "retribution" tour rhetoric gaining mainstream Republican acceptance and raises fears of political violence if Trump secures the nomination.

Tommy Tuberville hints at incarceration of Donald Trump’s critics

Speaking Thursday at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Tuberville stated that "a lot of these people are going to go to jail" if Trump wins the 2024 presidential election.

Tuberville predicted the upcoming election would be extremely challenging for conservatives. "They're going to come after you. They're going to come after your churches. Anything to do with any kind of discipline, your law enforcement," he warned the CPAC crowd.

He then pledged his full support to Trump, who remains the clear frontrunner for the 2024 GOP nomination. "I'm going to be right there helping him," Tuberville declared, apparently referencing Trump's vows to investigate and prosecute political opponents if re-elected.

Tuberville’s comments mark Trump’s long-promised "retribution" tour continuing to gain mainstream acceptance in Republican circles. The former president has made revenge a central campaign theme, declaring himself the "warrior."

Trump shows no hesitation in vilifying opponents, previously suggesting investigating President Biden's family, prosecuting officials involved in cases against him, and forcing media companies like MSNBC to pay for "illegal political activity."
