CHAFFEE COUNTY, COLORADO: According to an autopsy report made public by Colorado officials on Monday, April 29, Suzanne Morphew, who disappeared in 2020, was killed.

Suzzane, 52, died from “undetermined means in the setting of butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine intoxication,” according to the reports.

Suzzane Morphew had animal tranquilizer in her system

Coroners in Chaffee County stated that Suzzane's femoral trabecular bone was used to complete the toxicology report and that her dental records were used to positively identify her, Crime Online reported.

According to the report, Suzzane was receiving chemotherapy for recurrent follicular lymphoma even though his disease was in remission.

However, the drugs discovered in her system "are marketed as a compounded injectable chemical immobilizer for wildlife providing pharmacologically reversible analgesia, sedation, and immobilization," according to the medical examiner.

Suzzane Morphew disappeared on Mother’s Day 2020

According to Suzzane's husband, Barry Morphew, Suzzane vanished on Mother's Day in 2020 after going for a bike ride in Chaffee County. She never came home. Morphew's bicycle was found at Chaffee County Road 225, at the bottom of a steep ravine.

According to investigators, there were no visible signs of blood damage on the bike. Barry Morphew asserted that Suzanne had most likely been abducted after she vanished.

However, friends claimed to investigators that Suzanne might have had a boyfriend and that the two had been fighting over money. Suzanne Morphew had "59 communications" with a man who was purportedly her boyfriend on the day before she vanished.

Was anyone arrested in Suzanne Morphew's case?

Barry Morphew was detained and accused of killing his wife, but in 2022 the case was dropped without prejudice, leaving it open to be reopened in the event that new information becomes available.

The skeletal remains of Suzanne Morphew were discovered in September 2023 dispersed throughout a secluded region of Saguache County. She might have been buried in a shallow grave, according to reports.

The remains were discovered during an unrelated search, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. The remains were found in Chaffee County, roughly thirty to forty minutes away from the Morphew residence.

It is unknown if any new criminal charges will be filed in light of the most recent autopsy.
