Taylor Swift allegedly saw Ryan Reynolds confront Justin Baldoni over Blake Lively: Report

CALIFORNIA, US: Newly unsealed court documents reveal that Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman were allegedly present when Ryan Reynolds confronted actor-director Justin Baldoni about accusations that he fat-shamed Blake Lively during the making of 'It Ends With Us.'

The revelation appears in a July 2024 timeline of events sent by Wayfarer Studios co-founder Jamey Heath’s team to Justin Baldoni’s publicist, material that now sits at the center of the ongoing legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

According to the document, Justin Baldoni visited Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ New York City penthouse on April 25, 2023. There, Ryan Reynolds allegedly “unloaded” on him about “how horrible it was” that Baldoni had allegedly asked about Blake Lively’s weight. The document states that Reynolds’ accusations of “fat-shaming” left Justin Baldoni “completely embarrassed,” prompting him to apologize and “even share some tears.” 

Alleged fat-shaming confrontation involving Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman

Blake Lively, 38, filed a lawsuit in December 2024 accusing Justin Baldoni, 41, of retaliation, fat-shaming and other misconduct — allegations Baldoni denies. Their trial is scheduled for March 2026. Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman were previously listed as potential witnesses by Blake Lively’s legal team.

A representative for Taylor Swift has since clarified that Swift “never set foot on the set of this movie… she did not score the film… she did not even see 'It Ends With Us' until weeks after its public release.” The rep added that Swift’s name was being used “to draw public attention by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case." 

Hugh Jackman notably attended the August 9, 2024 New York premiere of 'It Ends With Us' with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds and later appeared with Lively on the cover of Vogue’s September 2024 issue. 

TMZ had previously reported on a separate meeting at Blake Lively’s penthouse regarding a rewritten scene, during which Taylor Swift unexpectedly crossed paths with Justin Baldoni. A source told the outlet that Swift was “invited by Lively without knowing the context,” adding that Swift had only met Baldoni once and expressed excitement about the film because “he was her friend’s boss.”

Conflicting accounts from Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively’s amended complaint accuses Justin Baldoni of finding back-channel ways to criticize her body and weight, including allegedly contacting her fitness trainer privately to ask what she weighed.

Justin Baldoni’s now-dismissed $400 million countersuit disputed this, arguing that he contacted the trainer solely to learn Blake Lively’s weight so he could “train his back muscles in preparation for a lift scene,” claiming he wanted to “avoid injury” due to a history of back issues. 

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively had confronted Justin Baldoni about the issue in 2023, but Baldoni’s attorneys argue that the confrontation was so aggressive he felt compelled to issue repeated apologies.

Justin Baldoni later accused Ryan Reynolds of “berating” him during a January 2024 meeting. Ryan Reynolds’ attorney, Bryan Freedman, told Page Six that while Reynolds was “angry, stern and impassioned,” he did not “aggressively berate” Baldoni, noting that “the definition of berate is to scold or criticize angrily.”
