Ted Cruz pleads for donations on Fox News as he seeks third Senate term against Colin Allred
AUSTIN, TEXAS: Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX) made an emotional appeal for campaign contributions during his appearance on Fox News on Monday, October 14.
The 53-year-old is seeking a third term in the Senate, facing off against Rep Colin Allred (D-TX), who significantly outpaced him in fundraising, raking in more than $30 million in the third quarter compared to Cruz's $21 million. Despite this, polls have shown Allred trailing Cruz by three to five points.
Ted Cruz urges supporters to contribute to fight wild-eyed liberals
During the segment on 'Hannity', Sean Hannity highlighted the importance of Tez Cruz's Senate race saying, "If you’re in Texas and you care about border security, if you don’t want Harris-Biden inflation, if you don’t wanna pay high gas prices, if you want law and order, you better pay attention to Senator Cruz and his race."
Then he asked Cruz, "And don’t you have a debate coming up soon, too?" The junior senator confirmed, "So, I do. Our debate is tomorrow."
Notably, Cruz and Allred are set to face off in their one and only debate on October 15.
The Republican went on to say, "And Chuck Schumer’s been explicit. I’m his number one target in the country. Chuck Schumer and George Soros are flooding over $100 million into the state of Texas. I’m getting pounded every day. We had a poll that came out yesterday – showed it is a one-point race. And we’re getting viciously outspent."
He then passionately urged, "I’m so appreciative of your viewers going to tedcruz.org and contributing 25 bucks, 50, 100, maybe somebody giving $500 or $1,000, but go to tedcruz.org because when you’ve got $100 million, wild-eyed liberals that wanna buy Texas."
Ted Cruz calls Colin Allred a 'hard-left Kamala Harris clone'
Ted Cruz emphasized the stakes of the tight race, saying, "And here’s what Schumer thinks. If he can flip Texas, he wins the Senate, and he wins the country. Texas is the battleground. My opponent Colin Allred is a hard-left Kamala Harris clone."
"He voted 100% with Nancy Pelosi during his first four years in the House. He voted 100% with Joe Biden from 2021 to 2023. And yet, $100 million on the other side is dangerous. So, please come to tedcruz.org. I need your help and support at tedcruz.org," claimed the Republican.
Cruz narrowly secured his seat in 2018, winning against then-Rep Beto O'Rourke by just 2.6 percentage points.
While polls show Cruz in the lead, some analysts believe he might face challenges, notably due to past controversies such as his 2021 trip to Cancun amid a severe winter storm in Texas, an incident that Allred has highlighted in his campaign.
Internet mocks Ted Cruz's fundraising plea
Social media reactions to Ted Cruz’s fundraising appeal have been rife with criticism and humor.
One wrote, "Did he go on Fox to beg for money so Texans wouldn’t freeze? Nope, like you point out, he made plans to go to Cancun. Would have made it too but got caught by the press in the airport."
A person said, "You can see how panicked he is," while someone else quipped, "I think Ted should do cameos for money. I'd pay him $10 to talk about how he felt when Trump called his wife ugly and he just smiled."
"Sorry Ted Trump spent it all," joked one more. Another person expressed, "Trump is going to be flushed again this election, that is obvious. But I am not sure I could handle the MAGA tears if that gastropod Ted Cruz gets fired too. I will likely overdose from schadenfreude."
"You can see how panicked he is," wrote an individual.
