WASHINGTON DC: Donald Trump pushed back against his latest approval rate in a Fox News poll, calling it "terrible." He blasted the results of the poll, saying that they are as bad as CNN's and that he "hates" Fox News polls.
The latest Fox News national survey revealed that nearly two-thirds – 64 per cent – are dissatisfied with how things are going in the US. Fifty-nine percent of participants disapproved of Trump’s job performance.
Trump labels Fox News polls 'terrible' after bad ratings
Trump provided a telephonic byte to Fox News after the latest approval numbers and blasted the record low approval rates, calling the polls terrible and that the pollster should be fired. “CNN polls, which are the worst polls. Almost as bad as Fox polls. I hate Fox polls. Honestly, whoever does your polls, they’re terrible,” Trump said on a Fox News broadcast.
He further expressed his disapproval of record low ratings, saying, “Rupert Murdoch has promised me for years he's going to get rid of your pollster, but he doesn't do it. I don't get it. But your Fox polls are terrible.”
Trump’s approval rating hits record low
According to the Fox News national survey, 59 percent of the 1,001 registered voters disapproved of Trump’s performance in his second term, while only 41 percent approved of his style of working and handling of matters.
The survey was conducted between March 20 and March 23, with nearly half of the participants, 47 per cent, saying they strongly disapprove of Trump’s performance. Notably, the disapproval rate is the highest in either of his two terms.
Trump’s approval among Republicans dropped
Nearly a year ago, Trump’s approval rating stood at 49 per cent, while 51 per cent had disapproved of his performance. The significant and striking finding of the latest survey isn’t the dropping approval rate, but Trump’s declining popularity among republicans. Trump’s approval rate among Republicans dropped to 84 per cent, the lowest in his current tenure, from 92 per cent last March.
The decline in the number is reportedly largely driven by Trump’s falling approval among non-MAGA republicans whose approval of Trump fell 11 points over the past year, from 70 per cent to 59 per cent.
Trump’s war on Iran is highly disapproved
A whopping share of 64 per cent participants disapproved of the action on Iran, while also saying that it gave purpose to the military.
The approval and disapproval rates of the major realms of Trump’s administration are also underwater: healthcare (36 approve, 64 disapprove), Iran (36-64), taxes (36-64), foreign policy (38-62), and immigration (44-56). His best issue is border security (50-50), where equal numbers approve and disapprove.
