‘The Five’ host Jessica Tarlov praises Harris’ economic plan, contrasts it with Trump’s elite ranting
WASHINGTON, DC: On Friday's episode of Fox News' The Five, Jessica Tarlov, the show's only Democrat, sharply contrasted the recent public appearances of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
Tarlov highlighted that Harris had “an incredibly good day in revealing her economic plan,” while she described Trump as “ranting and raving” at his golf club.
Jessica Tarlov highlights Kamala Harris' unique approach compared to Biden
Jessica Tarlov pointed out that Kamala Harris' approach differed from President Joe Biden's, saying, “I never heard President Biden acknowledge that bread is up 50%, for instance.”
Tarlov argued that this demonstrated Harris' effort to connect with the American public through a relatable approach similar to Bill Clinton's “I feel your pain” strategy.
“I think that this was an incredibly good day for Kamala,” Tarlov said. “She was able to introduce herself to the American public in a way she hadn’t before.”
Tarlov elaborated on Harris' economic focus, noting that it aligns with her priorities on the ticket. She explained that the Federal Trade Commission's March report, "Feeding America at a Time of Crisis," identified companies such as Walmart, Kroger, and Tyson as having excessively profited despite supply chain problems.
“That is what led to this policy coming into being,” Tarlov said, suggesting that Harris’ initiative could be seen as antitrust enforcement rather than simple price controls. “If it is antitrust enforcement, that is something very in line with who Kamala Harris is and who she has been throughout her career.”
Jessica Tarlov contrasts Kamala Harris' relatable approach with Donald Trump’s elite ranting
In contrast, Jessica Tarlov compared Kamala Harris’ presentation to Donald Trump’s speech the previous day.
"You had President Trump, someone who grew up a millionaire, became a billionaire, standing in front of his golf club, ranting and raving about everything, lying about everything from GDP rates to poverty rates to energy production, et cetera,” she stated.
“You have Kamala Harris, someone talking about her middle-class upbringing, the fact her family rented throughout their lives so she knows what it means for people out there who can’t get on the property ladder, someone who worked at McDonald’s through college,” Tarlov continued. “You couldn’t have a starker juxtaposition between these two candidates.”
However, Jeanine Pirro took a different stance, dismissing Harris’ plan to combat price gouging as “communism” and drawing a comparison to former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin.
Pirro also questioned why Harris, as a former Attorney General of California, hadn't previously addressed price gouging through state-level action, asking, “No, she waits until now?”
