'The jam charade': Internet unconvinced as Meghan Markle sends her 13th jam bottle to Kris Jenner
MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle’s close circle includes Kris Jenner and the famous momager was proud to flaunt it.
The Kardashian-Jenner matriarch became the latest in the list of high-profile celebrities to receive the Duchess of Sussex’s strawberry jam from her brand American Riviera Orchard.
Meghan Markle's friendship with Kardashian-Jenner family
Following a series of alleged snubs from Hollywood execs, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have strived hard to reinvent their images.
According to PR specialists, the mother of two is now curating her friend circle in such a way that would help her reinvent her image.
Per Daily Mail, PR guru Mark Borkowski said, “Meghan's circle proves she has a profound influence and will continue. The lineup of names surrounding her in this endeavor certainly speaks volumes about her evolving inner circle.”
Borkowski’s words ring true as the ‘Suits’ actress is now brushing shoulders with the wealthy reality TV star family, as is evident from her sending Kris Jenner the 13th jar out of her first batch of strawberry jams.
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star recently took to her Instagram to share a picture of the American Riviera Orchard jam bottle nestled in a basket of citrus fruits. Lying nearby was a handwritten card bearing the name of Jenner.
Jenner became one of the many celebrities who received a special gift from the duchess. After receiving the gift, she thanked Markle by writing "thank you American Riviera Orchard" with a yellow love heart emoji.
Previously, model Chrissy Teigen, who owns the food brand Cravings, also received a bottle from Meghan. Similarly, her ‘Suits’ co-star Abigail Spencer found herself on the recipient list.
This is, however, not the first time that Markle and the Hollywood royalty have crossed paths. Previously, the duchess’s mother Doria Ragland was seen networking with Jenner during the This is About Humanity soiree in Los Angeles last summer.
Besides, Markle’s husband Prince Harry was found enjoying a fun time with Jenner’s partner of ten years, Corey Gamble, during a ski trip to Aspen, Colorado last month.
Fans not pleased as Meghan Markle sends jam bottle to Kris Jenner
The Internet has a lot to say about the whole scenario as readers commented online about Meghan Markle sending jams to her celebrity friends.
One of the netizens said, "This whole jam charade is nauseating. It's just one long PR stunt. But it also has the added effect of showing just how calculating Markle is. And the people she has chosen to associate herself with is also very telling. They couldn't be further removed from a life of service if they tried."
Another commented, "More like what she did was try to pick out the 50 people most likely to be in the media regularly then decide how likely they would be to give her the publicity she craved. Eg she could send it to Trump or Biden but there’s little chance of them doing a photoshoot. Most likely it would have to be women because what man would get excited over jam. Just very strange that Oprah hasn’t shown up yet."
"I compared Kris’s response to five other gifts she received and the others all had a message attached, such as, Thank you x for the x, love you B, or similar personalized message. She did that for all, but not for Meghan. She simply said, Thank you, ARO. I think she’s not interested but figured in the scope of things, better to say thanks," observed a third.
A disgruntled fan said, "Trying to give something very ordinary the facade of being something very special seems to be MM's default modus operandi. And most of us are VERY bored with it now."
"This whole jam thing is just a farce and there will be no such thing. It's an attempt to get as many people involved with Markle as possible to raise her popularity that's all," said another user.
Someone else commented, "Isn’t it obvious? She picks those with a social media presence/following. There’s nothing friendly or kind here, just pure calculation."
Another social media user added, "It's called "buttering up more successful people" in the hope that she will gain more popularity from their fans! Desperation!"
