NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz joined co-host Rachel Campos to talk about the Democratic political agenda in the upcoming budget on the Sunday, March 31, episode of 'Fox & Friends.'

The former Congressman claimed that the Democrats were "all about control and power," and slammed the economic policies of the current federal administration for decreasing government revenue and increasing inflation.

Rise of government spending

When Campos asked why the administration under President Joe Biden was not in favor of economic policies that were more aligned with the political center, Chaffetz replied, "(It is) because the Democrats worship at the altar of big government. They think big government has all the answers to all of the problems."

"Every time you're spending money out of Washington DC, what you are really doing is (that) you are pulling money from somebody's wallet and you are giving it to somebody else. And (Democrats) think they are better at making that decision than you are," he said.

"This is a choice election (in 2024), and this is one of the key choices," proceeded Chaffetz, claiming that the tax cuts by former President Donald Trump had not decreased, but rather increased the revenue to the treasury "because people had money in their wallets. Businesses did better".

"So if you want to make America less competitive, then take more taxes from them. It's also one of the key reasons (why) we have so much inflation, that government is spending almost one out of every five dollars that is spent in this country."

Slamming increased government surveillance

Campos mentioned California's Democratic Gov Gavin Newsom planning to put up surveillance cameras to tackle crimes in his state, leading Chaffetz to observe, "For them, it's all about control and power."

"They want facial recognition, they want to be able to see every movement, they want to actually score you and understand how environmentally friendly you are, where you go, what you do. This is all part of it. Facial recognition plays right into it. It's fundamentally wrong."

"And if they can control all of your money and all of your benefits, again, it reaches their end goal, which is control and power," he added.
