WASHINTON, DC: Former National Security Advisor John Bolton, in a recent interview with French Daily newspaper Le Figaro, said ex-president Donald Trump "doesn't have the brains" to be a dictator, The Hill reported.

In the interview published on Thursday, March 28, the conservative outlet questioned Bolton about the dictatorial tendencies of the GOP presumptive nominee, who is eying for a second term in the White House.

"He hasn't got the brains! He's a property developer, for God's sake!" he responded in the interview translated by The Telegraph.

The former Trump aide recently took to X, sharing a video of the White House hopeful praising Kim Jong Un and warning against his possible return to power.

"Donald Trump wants Americans to treat him like North Koreans treat Kim Jong Un. Get ready....," he wrote.

In December 2023, Trump claimed he wanted to be a "dictator for a day." However, a month later, he retracted the earlier claim, stating he would not turn into one if elected in November.

Despite his clarification, the former president often praised authoritarian rulers like China's Xi Jinping, Russia's Vladimir Putin, and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim.

In addition, he made several statements against undocumented immigrants entering the US, echoing the anti-immigrant rhetoric of German dictator Adolf Hitler.

John Bolton warns Donald Trump may leave NATO

Speaking to the French outlet, the former Trump aide predicted that "it is very likely that Trump will leave NATO if he is reelected."

The former president has long criticized the NATO members' failure to pay the 2 percent GDP to the organization and threatened to leave it during his term in office.

In February, he made a shocking remark threatening to abandon "delinquent" NATO allies in the event of a Russian attack.

Weighing in on the likely possibility, Bolton added, "Trump, when he has an idea, comes back to it again and again, then gets distracted, forgets, but eventually comes back to it and acts on it. That's why leaving NATO is a real possibility. A lot of people think it's just a negotiating tool, but I don't think so."

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had issued a similar warning that Trump might withdraw the US from the security alliance if reelected.

Internet criticize John Bolton

Netizens called out Bolton for suggesting Trump lacked the intellect for dictatorship.

One user remarked, "Disgruntled ex-employee has things to say about his former boss."

"Oh my goodness what is John Bolton ever done? He's talking about other people's aptitudes?" another person questioned.

A user said, "Who cares what this clown says!" One more user added, "Ol' Bolton's ability to project is amazing..."

"Looks like John Bolton doesn't have the brains to sit down and shut up. Trump will be the next President," a response read.

Another individual wrote, "John Bolton is a hired clown. He outlived his 15 minutes a long time ago."

"More gaslighting from the yes, we worked for trump (but we held our noses while we did it) crew. Not about trump, it's the armies of gop lawyers, financiers, planners, and think tanks that are creating the agenda. trump is mostly an annoyance to them, but a good mouthpiece," read another remark.
