RENO, NEVADA: Former President and 2024 White House hopeful Donald Trump compared himself to the infamous gang boss Al Capone while addressing a rally in Reno, Nevada, on December 17, reported The Hill.

He boasted about his similarities with Capone, pointing out the four indictments against him.

"I heard he [Al Capone] was indicted once – a couple of people told me a few times more – but I was indicted four times," Trump boasted. His strange comparison apparently aims to assert that the ongoing criminal cases against him are unjust.

According to a report by The Washington Post, Trump faces 91 charges in his four indictments, including his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and retention of classified documents during his presidential term.

Donald Trump calls Al Capone 'great head of mafia'

Capone, also known as Scarface, was an American gangster infamous for his violent and ruthless elimination of his enemies. He reigned as a crime boss in Chicago from 1925 to 1931 until he was imprisoned.

Before drawing a comparison to the mob boss, Trump asked the crowd if they knew him. "Did anybody ever hear of the great Alphonse Capone, Al Capone, great, great head of the mafia, right? Mean, Scarface. He had a scar that went from here to here, and he didn't mind at all. But he was a rough guy," the former President said.

He then emphasized how dangerous the criminal leader was in his time. "If he had dinner with you and if he didn't like the way you smiled at him at dinner, he would kill you. You'd be dead. By the time you walked out of the nice restaurant, you would be dead."

"He got indicted once. I got indicted four times. Over bulls—, I got indicted," the leading GOP presidential candidate added.

According to a Forbes report, Capone faced 22 federal income tax evasion indictments.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's bragging comparison to a gang boss

Donald Trump sees the 2024 presidential campaign as the perfect stage for boasting about anything and everything.

Calling his term "one of the greatest presidencies" to proclaiming how he plans to stop the flow of undocumented immigrants, the internet doubts if the latest in the list is something that the former President should be proud of.

One user said, "Time for him to go to prison like Capone."

Another user remarked, "He wants to be known as a bigger criminal now LOL."

"People have said that his behavior is too much like a mob boss, so now he’s starting to believe it…" added a third user.

A fourth user questioned, "Whn will he learn, being a criminal isn’t anythng 2 brag abt."

"An even bigger criminal than Capone? Wow, that’s impressive," read another reaction.

Another asked, "What does any of this have to do with running the country. He is horrible."

Another user mocked Trump, saying, "Once a wannabe, always..."
