Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer reach agreement to finalize divorce nearly 10 years after split
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tobey Maguire is back in the headlines, but not because of any talk about 'Spider-Man.' This time, the actor is making news over his personal life and ongoing divorce proceedings with his ex-wife, Jennifer Meyer.
Maguire and Meyer have finally moved closer to finalizing their divorce, nearly a decade after their initial split. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the documents were filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on September 18.
The former couple did not have a single overnight end to their relationship. They were married from 2007 until October 2016.

As per the publication, the documents were filed by Meyer on September 16. It is revealed that she and Maguire, 51, have finally made the decision to move on and have come to a settlement in their divorce proceedings.
As per reports, the former couple agreed to appoint a private judge to solve the remaining dispute as they finalize the larger settlement. They announced their separation back in October 2016. They got separated, and Meyer filed for divorce in October 2020.
Meyer, a jewelry designer, 49, and the actor, 51, split back in 2016 after 9 years of marriage. They share two biological children, daughter Ruby, 19, and son Otis, 17.
As per Page Six, they shared in a joint statement at the time, “After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple. As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.”

According to Page Six, Meyer has moved on romantically with music executive Geoffrey Ogunlesi. The couple began dating in 2024 and later welcomed their first child together, a baby girl. Now a mother of three, Meyer has shared that she remains on good terms with her ex-husband.
Back in 2022, Meyer opened up about how she and the 'Spider-Man' actor have continued to co-parent their children. She admitted that “staying on track to stay a family” required a lot of hard work.
“It was a choice, and it was trusting in, like, the universe has got our back,” Meyer said during an appearance on 'World’s First Podcast'.
During an appearance on 'The Inside Edit' podcast in December 2025 with Maeve Reilly, Meyer said Gwyneth Paltrow helped her realize that divorce could benefit their family in the long run.
“Everyone was making fun of conscious uncoupling at the time, but joke’s on them. Joke’s on those people making fun of it,” Meyer said at the time. “I called (Sadeghi) and then I had to say to Tobey, ‘Hey, we’re going to go to couple’s therapy.’”
“I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him,” she added. “Anything in the world.” On 'The Inside Edit,' Meyer called Maguire “the best dad, the best ex-husband, the best friend, the most generous” and said Maguire and Ogunlesi get along well.
