INDIO, CALIFORNIA: A giant 40-foot shovel installation spotted near the Coachella 2026 grounds sparked online buzz and speculation surrounding the festival. It was later revealed that none other than 'Mission Impossible' star, Tom Cruise, is connected to the promotional display, attached to his upcoming film 'Digger.'

The installation, which appeared near the Coachella venue, was widely shared on social media after users posted photos from the site. Cruise also allegedly reshared an image of the display on his Instagram Story, and took to X to share coordinates for fans to locate the huge prop.

The film’s early marketing has drawn attention for its unusual approach, with fans reacting to the oversized promotional material.

Huge shovel prop installed near Coachella area draws attention

The large shovel installation, tied to Cruise’s upcoming film 'Digger,' directed by Alejandro Iñárritu is estimated to be around 40 feet tall. It sits on a quiet corner across from a local bar and is visible from more than half a mile away. It is located roughly 15 minutes from the Coachella grounds.

Locals say the installation fits into the region’s long-standing trend of large-scale desert artworks, though its scale and subject have made it stand out online. Cruise also shared a photo of the giant shovel on X, with the caption: “In DIGGER We Trust. 33.711°N, 116.233°W.”

The installation is in Indio, close to the Coachella grounds. It can be located using coordinates shared by Cruise on social media. From there, visitors can continue west along John Nobles Avenue toward Monroe Street, where the structure is visible.

The actor, coming off the recent box-office success of 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,' is set to star in 'Digger' next. Early teaser footage shows him in a transformed look, moving dramatically while carrying a shovel, hinting at the film’s stylized tone.
