Tom Felton gets emotional as 'Harry Potter' costar Warwick Davis watches his Broadway performance

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A sweet 'Harry Potter' reunion took place after Tom Felton's Broadway show when former co-star Warwick Davis appeared in the audience on Thursday, August 13, to support his longtime co-star.

Felton reprised his role as Draco Malfoy in the stage production of 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child', nearly 15 years after first playing the character. Following the show, he described Davis as a "special guest & dear friend" and shared their reunion on Instagram.

'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' takes place 19 years after the events of JK Rowling’s 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', the final installment of the seven-book series. The play follows Harry Potter's son, Albus, as he befriends Malfoy's son at Hogwarts.

Davis, who played Professor Filius Flitwick in all eight films alongside Felton for 10 years, watched the Broadway performance from the audience. Felton revealed that he nearly cried while saying "Wingardium Leviosa," knowing Davis was watching.

The two embraced backstage before Davis joined Felton in the post-show Broadway tradition of greeting audiences at the stage door. "Let's hear some noise!" Felton shouted in a clip while waving to the crowd beside Davis.

Davis got his breakthrough role at age 11 as Wicket W. Warrick in 'Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.' He as since held dozens of roles across movies and television, including lead roles in the 1988 fantasy film 'Willow' and the 'Leprechaun' horror film series.

He has also continued appearing in 'Star Wars' movies. Davis is also set to reprise his role as Professor Filius Flitwick in the upcoming HBO 'Harry Potter' TV series, which will premiere December 25.

Felton is also the latest 'Harry Potter' star to confirm that he has been in touch with the young actor taking over his role. During an interview on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, he revealed that he had "sent word" to Lox Pratt, who was cast as Malfoy in the upcoming HBO series.

The adaptation will turn each of Rowling's books into its own season, and Felton described it as a "very different" experience from what he signed up for. Having been just 13 when he filmed the first movie, he felt it was "really important" to reach out to 14-year-old Pratt.

"We were entering things that don't exist. There's quite a lot of weight now," Felton said, adding, "So the last thing I'm gonna do is offer anything other than say, ‘Here's my phone number. Here's my address.’ To his parents, as well as him — and to anyone else there.”

Felton said he "can't offer [any] advice" because the new cast members have their own "journey" to go on. However, he encouraged Pratt to "have as much fun as possible, take as many pictures as you can, steal as many props as you can — they'll be worth a fortune."

Pratt later confirmed to Variety that he had followed his advice about the props, admitting, "Yeah, I probably can't reveal how many props I've taken." He also described his approach to the character, explaining, "He's still very much Draco, but I'm putting my own spin on him.”
