Tom Green reveals why he left Hollywood for life in Canada: 'I'm very relieved'
ONTARIO, CANADA: Tom Green has finally disclosed the reason behind him fleeing Hollywood in 2021 for a life in rural Canada’s Ontario, where he lives with chickens, a mule, and a donkey.
The Canadian-American comedian spoke about his move in an interview with The New York Times on Saturday, January 25, while promoting his new documentary, ‘This Is the Tom Green Documentary’, which began streaming on Friday on Amazon Prime Video.
Tom Green on leaving Hollywood
“I’m not really a Hollywood guy,” explained Tom Green. “I started to feel like I wasn’t being true to my authentic self,” as per The New York Post.
Also, about the documentary, he said, as reported by Yahoo Canada, “I've always thought I might do a documentary about it all someday. I've kept all my footage in a storage space in Los Angeles, and [we're talking] many thousands of hours of footage from the shows and everything over the years.”
Glenn Humplik agrees with Tom Green’s decision
Glenn Humplik, the producer of ‘The Tom Green Show’, also stated that he now understands his decision well.
He told the publication, “Tom is actually really reserved usually and serious. He’s very analytical about every single comedy bit and thing that he does. It’s not just a primitive demonstration.”
“He understands why something is funny or not. And it goes beyond just comedy — about life. He really reflects on things a lot. Maybe too much sometimes,” Humplik added.
Tom Green claims new series will show he's not 'completely crazy'
The former husband of Drew Barrymore will also be seen in a new Prime Video series ‘Tom Green Country’, releasing on January 31.
About the show, the ‘Bob the Butler’ actor said, “People are probably going to be surprised that I’m not, like, completely crazy.”
“There’s a sort of a wholesome heartwarming thing to this — that I have a close relationship with my family, that I love animals, that I enjoy doing a lot of things that a great many people in the world enjoy doing, like getting out into the woods,” he mentioned.
Tom Green enjoys his new life with ‘incredible farm animals’
Tom Green also spoke about his country's move with Yahoo Canada.
He spilled, “I'm very relieved that somehow I ended up making the choice to come back to Canada. I thought about it for years and when COVID happened, lives were turned upside down, I had the time to make the move. I was not touring anymore, doing my stand-up, and I had a chance to make this choice.”

“It's been a big process, uprooting my life of 20 years and selling my house, and moving here and getting a farm, and now I have all these incredible farm animals,” the 53-year-old podcaster added.
