LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Holland, who is entering the beverage industry with the launch of his non-alcoholic beer brand, 'Bero' has opened up on how his girlfriend Zendaya helped him in the process.
The 28-year-old actor, who has been sober since January 2022, announced the venture on Tuesday, October 15, revealing that it was inspired by his personal journey with sobriety.

Explaining his journey with sobriety, Holland said, “When I got sober, I started exploring the world of non-alcoholic beers and realized there was space for me to fit in."
He shared that his first year of sobriety was particularly challenging and had he had a product like Bero, the experience might have been easier.
“It was very difficult, it has been the hardest thing I've ever done, and arguably the greatest achievement of my life,” said the 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' star.
Holland’s path to sobriety began with what he describes as a “pretty generic story.”
In 2022, he participated in a Dry January challenge but soon realized he had a deeper issue with alcohol.
“I was drinking too much. I was the type of person that, when I'd have one beer, I couldn't just have one beer. I knew I'd had a bit of a problem for a while,” the actor explained.
Holland initially set a goal to stay sober until his birthday on June 1 and by the six-month mark, he said that he began to feel the benefits of a sober lifestyle.
“By the time I'd done six months, I started to feel great. I'm very proud to be sober today,” he said.

Holland’s new non-alcoholic beer brand 'Bero', was born out of a passion project that began in November 2023.
The actor partnered with veteran beverage marketer John Herman to create three distinct drinks, Kingston Golden Pils, Edge Hill Hazy IPA, and Noon Wheat.
“There’s no secret that as a celebrity, you're constantly being offered these kinds of brand deals but I never found anything I felt particularly passionate about — until now," explained Holland.
Zendaya’s surprising role in product development
Tom Holland also shared how his girlfriend Zendaya played an unexpected role in the development of Bero.
Though Zendaya is not a fan of beer, she helped by providing her honest, if unconventional, feedback during taste tests.
“Zendaya hates beer, like, absolutely hates beer,” revealed Holland.
“She does not drink beer at all, and the first round of testing she was like, ‘Wow, these are really tasty,’ and I was like, ‘Well, that's probably not a good sign,’” he added.
Despite the humorous exchange, Zendaya’s feedback helped Holland refine the taste of the beers, according to People.
Speaking about the final product, Holland laughingly said, “Either everyone in my life is lying to me, or we’ve somehow bottled f*****g liquid gold."
