Zendaya reveals she no longer watches 'DWTS' due to her 'very stressful experience' on Season 16
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Zendaya recently opened up about why she hasn't tuned into 'Dancing with the Stars' since her own run on the reality show.
Despite being the runner-up of Season 16, the 'Euphoria' star admitted during an appearance on 'The Awardist' podcast that she has no interest in watching the ABC dance competition series.
Zendaya doesn't think she is the target demographic for 'Dancing with the Stars'
On the podcast, the 28-year-old revealed, "I have not watched 'Dancing with the Stars' since I was on."
She went on to explain, "I didn’t really watch 'Dancing with the Stars' before I was on 'Dancing with the Stars'. I don’t think I was the target demographic."
"My grandma loves 'Dancing with the Stars' — that’s her bag," added the 'Dune' actress, as per the New York Post.
Zendaya, who was just 16 at the time of her appearance on the show, was partnered with pro Val Chmerkovskiy and the duo made their way to the finale.
She competed against Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough, who ultimately took home the trophy. Baltimore Ravens’ Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff finished in third place.
Despite her impressive run, Zendaya admitted that her experience on the show wasn’t something she’s eager to relive. She shared, "I also think it was a very stressful experience. I was like, 'I don’t think I’m gonna be watching this anymore.'"
Zendaya's 'DWTS' partner predicted her future success
While Zendaya may have left the ballroom behind, her career has only soared since then.
A decade later, she’s earned two Emmys for her role as Rue Bennett on HBO's 'Euphoria' and is now gaining Oscar buzz for her portrayal of tennis coach Tashi Duncan in 'Challengers'.
Her 'DWTS' partner, Chmerkovskiy, always believed she was destined for greatness.
When Zendaya won her first Emmy in 2020, the professional dancer took to social media to sing her praises, reminiscing about their time on the show and making a bold prediction about her future.
On Instagram, he wrote, "Nearly 8 years ago I got the pleasure to teach a brilliant young woman how to ballroom dance on @dancingabc. After giving it every ounce of our effort, we came in second. Devastated by the loss, I remember telling her that one day you’ll be winning an Oscar and part of the reason why will be this feeling of defeat you feel right now."

"A few L's will teach you lifelong lessons you'll turn into dubs real soon. It was definitely not said this eloquently nor sound remotely as cool, and it isn't an Oscar yet, but I always knew you were special," added Chmerkovskiy.
"Our season on DWTS, and now your continued success since, has brought me a ridiculous amount of joy. I’m so proud of you Z!" expressed the three-time 'Dancing with the Stars' winner.
Though Zendaya hasn’t claimed that Oscar yet, her former partner has no doubt it’s only a matter of time.
Chmerkovskiy concluded his post writing, "Youngest ever winner of an Emmy for a leading role. You're a superstar, and always have been! Love you fam to many more wins in your life."
