Anna Delvey claims 'unfair' elimination from 'Dancing with the Stars' was an attempt to embarrass her
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Anna Delvey, the infamous convicted con artist, shared her thoughts on her brief stint on 'Dancing with the Stars' during a conversation with former contestant Tori Spelling on the 'misSPELLING' podcast, as reported by People.
After both women were eliminated in the same episode on September 24, Delvey expressed her disappointment at being cut so early from the competition.
Anna Delvey believes her 'DWTS' elimination was unjust
"We are like the biggest losers 'Dancing with the Stars' has ever seen," Delvey joked, reflecting on their double elimination. She remarked, “They thought the blondes have the most fun, and they were just not about it,” indicating she felt they were unfairly judged.
"I honestly did not expect to go home the first show," Spelling, 51, added, before Delvey chimed in, "I did not expect you to go home either."
Delvey admitted she was surprised by her early exit, saying, “Like, nothing would surprise me in my situation because I'm such a wild card.” Despite her short time on the show, she believed she had made progress and was trying her best.
"But I was trying, and I was like, oh, I kind of improved."
Delvey, whose con artist story was adapted into Netflix's 'Inventing Anna', expressed her worries about connecting with the 'Dancing with the Stars' audience, noting that the show's viewers tend to be older. The 33-year-old stated that she felt most of the people interested in watching her compete were likely younger.
Delvey also shared her concerns about connecting with the show's audience, noting that it skews older. "At first, I had concerns to be on the show because I was thinking what it's going to do to my image because obviously, none of the older audience can relate to me because of my past," she explained, referencing her notorious history of fraud. She felt that most fans of her story would likely be younger and might not watch live television.
Delvey mentioned this concerning her scam case, which ultimately resulted in her serving time in prison. "So I'm like, everyone who's a fan of me, they're on the younger side."
"It's not the kind of people who watch live TV necessarily or who know about 'Dancing with the Stars,'" she added.
She caused quite a stir during her time on the show, notably wearing a bedazzled ankle monitor as part of her costume. When asked by host Julianne Hough what she was taking away from the experience, Delvey bluntly replied, “Nothing.”

In the podcast episode, she expressed her frustration with the show's producers, claiming they held her to an "unfair standard" and pressured her to conform to an image that didn't resonate with her personality.
"They were building me up," she said. 'It's like, 'Only if you smile more, only if you do XYZ, it's going to be so much better for you.' And it felt like they put so much effort in trying to get me on the show, make me feel comfortable, just to eliminate me this early."
Delvey also took a jab at her fellow competitors, Eric Roberts, and Reginald VelJohnson, suggesting that she and Spelling were better dancers. “I see it like an attempt of an embarrassment for us to get eliminated before Eric or Reginald in a dancing competition,” she stated, adding that it felt more like a popularity contest rather than a true dance competition.
Anna Delvey’s 'DWTS' exit sparks online debate after she says she deserved more time on show
Anna Delvey's early exit from 'Dancing with the Stars' has sparked a heated debate on Facebook, especially after she claimed that she deserved more time on the show. Some users were quick to criticize her comments and past, with one user writing, "Whatever. I bet she didn’t think it was fair she went to prison, too."
Another added, "Girl, you got out of it what you put into it…nothing!"
One user wrote, "This show is more popularity than dancing. She danced better than others. She didn't get a fair chance with all the hate thrown at her."
Another wrote, "She should never have been on the show in the first place."
One user said, "Does she work at being unlikable, or does it just come naturally?"
Others referenced her criminal history, stating, "I bet her victims felt betrayed and hurt as well. Turnabout is fair play and karmic retribution is a real thing."
"She has a bad attitude and is completely self entitled and self absorbed. Get a real job, pay back what you owe the people you worked over, and get a life," a user commented.
