However, the 'Beverly Hills, 90210' alum has expressed gratitude for her "unlikely friendship" with the convicted con artist and infamous fake German heiress. Spelling and Delvey developed an unexpected bond in one another's experiences while leaving 'Dancing with the Stars' with conflicting feelings.

Anna Delvey (real name: Anna Sorokin), who became famous for her illicit activities while posing as an heiress, was criticized for her remarks made on the show.
Despite the controversy surrounding Delvey and their differing experiences, Spelling revealed that she had developed an "unlikely friendship" with her competitor.
She defended Delvey's persona, claiming to have met the "real human" hiding behind the headlines and left with a favorable impression. "I saw Inventing Anna, and then I met the real human, and she and I have become unlikely friends... She’s very kind to me, she's nice," Spelling, 51, said on her her iHeartRadio show 'misSPELLING.'

Referring to the Netflix series based on Delvey's life, Spelling added, "I liked the human and took everything else away," as per OK! Magazine.
The 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star revealed her unexpected bond with the controversial person. Spelling even acknowledged the "fake heiress's" dancing talent, despite the public's perception of Delvey's past.
She mentioned that Delvey's dancing partner, Ezra Sosa, had voiced his support for her and expressed heartbreak over her unfavorable response. Spelling said of Delvey, "She was starting to smile... starting to have more fun... I think she could be a beautiful dancer. But you know, she has a lot up against her with the public opinion of her."

Reflecting on her brief evolution, Spelling, who was ousted the same night as Delvey, said, "Honestly, I loved every second of this experience. The ballroom gave me such a new take on life and such joy that I wanted to keep going."
In contrast to Spelling's feeling of accomplishment, her new friend Delvey reacted enticingly to being omitted from Season 33. She stirred up controversy and received criticism from judges and spectators when she claimed to have gained "nothing" from the experience.
In reaction to Delvey's scathing remarks on elimination, Spelling said that while some found her response "offensive," it was "on brand" for her dry sense of humor.

Delvey even reiterated her one-word response during an appearance on 'Good Morning America.' When asked what her favorite component of the show was, Delvey replied: "Being eliminated."

In response to Delvey's remarks, Spelling shared her thoughts on the show and her experience there on Wednesday's (September 25) 'misSpelling' podcast. "That's her sense of humor," Spelling remarked in referring to Delvey's response.
"That's very on brand for her. I feel like people were offended and that it had nothing to do with Dancing With The Stars. It's just that she has a very dry sense of humor," as per Newsweek.
