NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a surprising move, British actor Tom Holland, best known for his role as Marvel’s Spider-Man, recently tried his hand at beer delivery in New York City – only to be met with unexpected anonymity.

Despite his fame, Holland experienced firsthand that his star power as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man didn't capture New Yorkers' attention while delivering pallets of his new non-alcoholic beer, BERO, to bars throughout the city, as per Entertainment Weekly.

In a humorous interview with Seth Meyers, Tom Holland discussed his new venture and his evolving perspective on life, sobriety, and his future with Marvel.

Holland's recent appearance on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' showcased his experience as an incognito beer distributor, revealing a more down-to-earth side of the globally recognized star.

When Meyers asked if anyone had recognized him as he made his rounds delivering BERO, Holland responded with a playful disbelief.

"Not at all!" he exclaimed, amused by how unnoticed he went while hauling beer around the Big Apple. "We're walking through Grand Central Station, and I was so insulted. I'm Spider-Man! It's New York City! Come on!"

Meyers chimed in with a tongue-in-cheek remark, noting, "I will say, credit to the New Yorkers who probably saw you and thought, ‘It can't be going that badly for Tom Holland.’"

Holland laughed, admitting Meyers might be right, saying, "That's probably what it was. 'He must have really hit rock bottom.'"

Holland's latest venture, BERO, marks a personal milestone for the actor, who explained to Meyers that the product was inspired by his journey to sobriety.

The actor shared that he missed the social experience of sharing a beer with friends, not the alcohol itself.

In a candid reflection, Holland said, “The thing that I’ve missed most is more the experience of sharing a beer than it is actually the beer itself.”

The creation of BERO has allowed him to fill that void, reintroducing the pleasure of shared moments without compromising his commitment to sobriety.

Tom Holland has openly discussed his journey to sobriety

Tom Holland has openly discussed his journey to sobriety in recent years. In a 2023 interview with Entertainment Weekly, he cited his decision to focus on mental health and recognize personal triggers as key factors.

Inspired by his Apple TV+ series 'The Crowded Room', which tells the story of a young man confronting mental illness, Holland found himself examining his own mental well-being.

“Learning about mental health and the power of it, and speaking to psychiatrists... has been something that has been so informative to my own life,” Holland told EW, highlighting how this process enabled him to identify “triggers” and “things that stress me out.”

These insights played a crucial role in shaping his decision to stay sober and focus on building a healthier lifestyle.

Holland also provided an update on his superhero role, revealing that production for 'Spider-Man 4' is officially underway, with shooting scheduled to begin next summer.

Reflecting on his nearly decade-long journey with Marvel, he spoke about the tremendous impact the role has had on his life and career.

“I got cast as Spider-Man nearly a decade ago. It changed my life for the better, and I will forever be grateful to Marvel and Sony,” Holland shared with Meyers.

However, he noted that the role brought a degree of predictability, reflecting on the constraints of his contract. “I had this six-picture deal, and I basically had to just show up, stand where I was instructed, and deliver my lines.”

Now that contract is behind him, Holland hinted at the newfound freedom he feels in making choices for the next chapter of his career.

EW later confirmed that he is indeed returning to the 'Spider-Man' franchise, with 'Spider-Man 4' slated for a July 24, 2026 release.

The film, a sequel to 2021’s blockbuster 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who will take over from Jon Watts.
