WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance announced on Sunday, September 14, that he will host 'The Charlie Kirk Show' from the White House on Monday, September 15, to honor his late friend, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead on September 10 at Utah Valley University.

The special broadcast will air in the afternoon, just days after Kirk was killed during a campus event in Utah. Vance and Kirk had been close friends for years, long before the vice president entered politics.

JD Vance says hosting show is tribute to Charlie Kirk

JD Vance wrote in an X post, “Tomorrow, I will have the honor of hosting The Charlie Kirk Show. Please join me as I pay tribute to my friend. 12:00PM ET http://Rumble.com/CharlieKirk."

Following Charlie Kirk's death, Vance shared an emotional note on X, reflecting on their years-long friendship that began with a simple act of kindness in 2017.

“After one of my early appearances on 'Tucker Carlson Tonight', I received a message from a name I barely recognized. He told me I did a great job. It was Charlie Kirk, and that moment of kindness began a friendship that lasted until today,” Vance wrote

Vance praised Kirk’s humility and curiosity, describing him as a man “fascinated by ideas and always willing to learn and grow.” He noted that both he and Kirk were initially skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016 but later came to see him as “the only figure capable of moving American politics away from the globalism that had dominated for our entire lives.”

Vance also credited Kirk with playing a pivotal role in his political journey. “Charlie was one of the first people I called when I thought about running for Senate in early 2021. I was interested but skeptical there was a pathway. We talked through everything, from the strategy to the fundraising to the grassroots of the movement he knew so well."

JD Vance accompanied Charlie Kirk’s casket to Arizona

JD Vance was seen escorting Charlie Kirk’s casket onto Air Force Two in Salt Lake City before traveling to Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday, September 11.

A viral clip showed Vance walking with the casket as Erika Kirk grew visibly emotional.

Upon arrival in Phoenix, Erika left the aircraft holding the hand of second lady Usha Vance. Kirk’s casket was then transported to Hansen Memorial Chapel.

President Donald Trump told reporters on September 11 that Kirk’s funeral would likely be held “next weekend” and confirmed he would attend. A public memorial service for Charlie Kirk is scheduled in Arizona on Sunday, September 21, according to Turning Point USA.
