Britt McHenry’s NBA game altercation reportedly began over heckling
According to Page Six, McHenry, 40, was at the game with a male friend when a group of men sitting behind her began heckling Bucks player Kyle Kuzma and making disparaging comments about his fiancee, model Winnie Harlow.
A source told the publication that McHenry, who had been drinking, turned around and told the hecklers to “ease up.”
The exchange reportedly escalated when the men began directing what the source described as misogynistic insults at her.
The source alleged that a drink was thrown on McHenry, prompting her to throw a drink in return.
Footage from the incident shows McHenry arguing with arena employees as staff members point toward the exit. She can be heard asking, “What’d I do?”
As she left, bystanders reportedly recorded the scene, with some booing, laughing, and throwing towels while McHenry blew kisses.
Page Six reported that stadium staff escorted both McHenry and the man involved in the confrontation out of the arena.
However, sources close to McHenry told TMZ that she was not kicked out and chose to leave on her own, while her guest stayed behind and met her after the game.
Britt McHenry’s 2015 ESPN suspension followed controversial towing video
The latest incident has brought renewed attention to McHenry’s earlier controversies. She worked as a Washington, DC-based ESPN reporter for just over three years before the network suspended her in April 2015 following the release of a video showing her berating an employee at a towing company.
In the footage, McHenry criticized the employee’s education and abilities while questioning her job.
“Do you feel good about your job?” she asked. “So I could be a college dropout and do the same thing? Why? 'Cause I have a brain, and you don't.”
She also made remarks about the employee’s appearance and workplace before leaving the scene.
During a podcast discussion in August 2024, McHenry described the video as “highly edited” and “doctored,” while maintaining that she believed her behavior was justified.
“I will always kinda own it, but I look back, and I don't think that video is that big of a deal,” she said.
McHenry also questioned the public reaction to the footage, arguing that people face criticism and cancellation on social media frequently. ESPN ultimately fired her in April 2017.
Britt McHenry’s Fox News career included lawsuit against George 'Tyrus' Murdoch
After leaving ESPN, McHenry joined Fox News as a commentator and later became a co-host. Her time at the network also became the subject of a legal dispute.
In December 2019, McHenry sued Fox News and her former Fox Nation co-host George “Tyrus” Murdoch, accusing him of harassment.
McHenry also accused the network of retaliating against her after she reported the alleged harassment. She claimed she was sidelined while Tyrus was given his own show.
Tyrus denied the allegations. Fox News said it had fully investigated McHenry’s complaints and maintained that its actions were appropriate.
The lawsuit was settled in July 2021 on undisclosed terms, and McHenry later left the network.
