SHARM EL-SHEIKH, EGYPT: Following the signing of the Gaza peace deal on Monday, October 13, President Donald Trump said that there won't be a "World War 3" in the Middle East, and "if we are smart", there won't be a World War 3 at all.
Speaking in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, alongside other world leaders, he said, "There won't be World War 3, hopefully at all, but it's not gonna start in the Middle East."
Trump says World War 3 won't begin in the Middle East
At the historic US brokered ceasefire summit, with other world leaders standing behind him, President Trump discussed the possibility of World War 3.
He said, “I have read it many times that World War 3 will begin in the Middle East, it's not gonna happen."

"There was a time where you would have thought that it could have, but it's not gonna happen. There won't be World War 3, hopefully at all, but it's not gonna start in the Middle East," the president added.
He also said, "We are not gonna have a World War 3 if we are smart."

Trump says priority is Gaza’s reconstruction
Trump also outlined the humanitarian and security priorities of the peace plan, while stressing that support for Gaza does not mean funding for violence or terror.
“We've all agreed that supporting Gaza must be done to lift up the people themselves. We don’t want to fund anything to do with bloodshed, hatred, or terror as has happened in the past,” he said.

He called for Gaza to be "demilitarized" and for the establishment of a new civilian police force to ensure the safety of the people.
“Gaza, as I said earlier, I intend to be a partner in securing a better future... You are going to be working with the United States. We are going to make sure the Middle East is going to be a safe and secure place. It is a very important place in the world,” Trump said.

Trump signs Gaza peace plan along with key mediating countries
Earlier in the day, Trump joined leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, all key mediators of the agreement, for the official signing ceremony.
Trump also urged continued cooperation to ensure that the ceasefire translated into lasting peace.
“This is the first time the Middle East crisis has brought people together as opposed to driving them apart... So together let us continue in the spirit of cooperation and goodwill that has brought us to this incredible historic breakthrough,” he said.
