Trump blasts Indiana Republicans for blocking redistricting efforts: ‘Get them out of office ASAP’
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has launched an attack on Republican lawmakers in Indiana on Sunday, November 16, threatening to support primary challengers against them for refusing to redraw the state’s congressional map to create additional GOP seats.
The public clash comes after Trump’s increasing demands on red states to aggressively pursue redistricting ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Trump wants Indiana senators to add two GOP seats
In a Truth Social post, Trump singled out Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray and State Sen Greg Goode, calling them “RINO Senators” who were standing in the way of potential Republican gains.
He claimed that their reluctance to act could cost the party its House majority in the next Congress.

“Very disappointed in Indiana State Senate Republicans… for not wanting to redistrict their State, allowing the United States Congress to perhaps gain two more Republican seats,” Trump wrote.
He argued that Democrats have aggressively redrawn their maps and that GOP-led states should follow suit.
The president pointed to California’s 'Proposition 50' as evidence of what he called Democratic “map manipulation.” He also referenced Texas, which approved a Republican-favorable map in its last redistricting cycle.
Trump warns Senators of primary challenges
Trump also took a jab at Indiana Governor Mike Braun, a close ally, accusing him of not doing enough to push the redistricting effort forward despite Trump’s past political support.
“Also, a friend of mine, Governor Mike Braun, perhaps, is not working the way he should to get the necessary Votes. Considering that Mike wouldn’t be Governor without me (Not even close!), is disappointing!” the president stated.
He urged Republican voters to defeat any lawmaker who stands against the redistricting push. “Any Republican that votes against this important redistricting… should be PRIMARIED,” Trump declared.
Trump wants senators to 'do their job'
"Indiana is a State with strong, smart, and patriotic people. They want us to see our Country WIN, and want to, "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"" Trump continued.
"Senators Bray, Goode, and the others to be released to the public later this afternoon, should DO THEIR JOB, AND DO IT NOW! not, let’s get them out of office, ASAP," he concluded.
None of the lawmakers mentioned have responded to Trump’s remarks.
Meanwhile, Trump's redistricting drive has invited sharp criticisms from the opposition. At a rally in Houston on November 8, California Governor Gavin Newsom sharply criticized Trump, calling him “weakness masquerading as strength” while addressing broader redistricting efforts.
He spoke out against what he described as Trump-driven attempts to manipulate congressional maps in Republican-controlled states.
Texas became the first of several Republican-led states to act on Trump’s call to redraw their congressional districts before the 2026 midterm elections.
Newsom accused Trump of urging Republican-led states, particularly Texas under Governor Greg Abbott, to redraw congressional districts to protect GOP majorities ahead of the 2026 midterms.
