WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump, speaking at the McDonald’s Impact Summit 2025 on Monday, November 17, declared his long-standing loyalty to the fast-food chain, noting that his campaign flights often served only McDonald’s menu items.

He also offered menu advice on the Filet-O-Fish sandwich, a known favorite of his from the fast-food giant.

Trump says he is the 'most loyal' customer of McDonald's

Addressing the summit in Washington, DC, President Donald Trump emphasized his long history with the company, saying, "I'm also one of your all-time most loyal customers."

He drew a comparison to other politicians when he said, "Other politicians fly around on campaign planes stocked with expensive catering. When Trump Force One, prior to ascending to Air Force One, flew during the campaign, we served only McDonald's almost every time."

He also recalled, "On occasion we couldn't find one, which is pretty hard to believe, but we really did." He even recounted, "You fed us very well, and I even got Bobby Kennedy to eat a Big Mac. He told me he loved it."

Trump's suggestion for improving the Filet-O-Fish sandwich

As he spoke to the crowd of franchise owners and operators, President Donald Trump offered a bit of menu critique for one of his favorite items, the Filet-O-Fish sandwich.

That advice came with a joke that made the audience laugh when he said, "No matter who you are, everyone loves something at McDonald's. I like the fish. I like it. You could do a little bit more tartar sauce though, please. Seriously."

It is worth noting that Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, recounts in his 2022 memoir Breaking History that one of Trump’s go-to meals was "a McDonald's Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, fries and a vanilla shake."

Meanwhile, a 2017 book by campaign officials Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, 'Let Trump Be Trump,' mentioned a similar favorite order: "two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish and a chocolate malted shake."

This event marked 70 years since founder Ray Kroc opened the first franchised McDonald's restaurant on April 15, 1955, in Des Plaines, Illinois.

While the original McDonald’s was founded as a drive-in in San Bernardino, California, in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald, it was Kroc who transformed the brand into the global franchise recognized today.

He joined the company as a franchise agent in 1955 and later bought the business from the McDonald brothers in 1961.
