WASHINGTON, DC: In his State of the Union (SOTU) address, President Donald Trump declared that America has entered a new economic chapter, marked by strong growth, rising employment and “trillions of dollars” being reinvested in the country.
Trump said that during his second term, the economy experienced falling prices and increased investment, contrasting it with the period under Joe Biden. He argued that high inflation, immigration pressures and rising household costs had strained the country before he took office, challenges he attributed to Biden’s administration.
Trump framed his actions as a response to those issues, saying he worked steadily to stabilize the economy and encourage investment. He suggested the previous administration’s policies had held the nation back, leaving it at a “breaking point” before his tenure began.
Trump touts lower prices, blasts Biden-era policies
President Donald Trump highlighted what he described as the impact of his administration during his term, arguing that the gains were not achieved under Joe Biden. He pointed to improvements in essential goods and reductions in living costs for average Americans.
Trump said, “The Biden administration and its allies in Congress gave us the worst inflation in the history of our country. But in 12 months, my administration has driven core inflation down to the lowest level in more than 5 years and in the last 3 months of 2025, it was down to 1.7 per cent."
During his address, he cited price declines for everyday items such as eggs, chicken, butter, fruit, hotel stays, automobiles and rent since he took office. He also pointed to a significant drop in energy costs, describing it as equal to “another big tax cut.”
Trump acknowledged that family expenses have risen to $34,000 but framed his policies as prioritizing American households. “I love my country, and I have always and will always ‘put America first,’” he declared. He said past policies “drained the wealth” of working Americans and called the Affordable Care Act a “rip-off” that helped insurance companies, not families.
Trump surpasses Bill Clinton’s SOTU record
Speaking at the State of the Union address on February 24, President Donald Trump criticized former President Joe Biden and Democrats over the DHS shutdown and praised TPUSA’s former CEO, Charlie Kirk.
Trump now holds the modern-era record for the longest State of the Union address, surpassing former President Bill Clinton’s 2000 speech.
Clinton’s January 27, 2000, address lasted about 1 hour, 28 minutes and 49 seconds and was long considered the longest televised State of the Union in modern tracking until Trump’s speech exceeded it.
