MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump has thrown his full support behind Rep Elise Stefanik (R-NY), praising her as "an incredible representative" in a glowing endorsement ahead of New York’s primary election.

“Elise Stefanik is an incredible representative for the fantastic people of New York’s 21st Congressional District,” Trump penned on his Truth Social site, The Hill reported.

“An America First Patriot, Elise is fighting to protect our country against the Marxists, Fascists, and Communists on the Radical Left.”

Trump lauded Stefanik’s efforts in supporting the military and veterans, boosting the economy, lowering inflation, promoting American energy, and “secure our under siege Southern Border.”

“Elise Stefanik is SMART, STRONG, and TOUGH—she has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” he declared.

Stefanik, who serves as the chair of the Republican conference, has steadily risen in the GOP ranks. Her popularity surged after she forcefully questioned university presidents about on-campus antisemitism during a hearing last year. There are even rumors that she might join Trump on the ballot this fall.

First elected in 2013, Stefanik flipped New York’s 21st Congressional District, becoming the first Republican to win the seat in 21 years. The district is now considered a safe Republican seat by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.

This week, instead of facing a primary election, both Stefanik and her Democratic opponent, Paula Collins, will advance directly to the general election as their parties' sole candidates.

On Capitol Hill, Stefanik has become one of Trump’s most vocal supporters, even defending him after his conviction in a recent hush money trial.

Last month, when asked about being a potential running mate for Trump, Stefanik noted there were “a lot of names” being considered, sidestepping any confirmation.

Speculation continues to swirl about Trump’s vice presidential pick, with an announcement expected at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next month.

Netizens react to Trump’s endorsement of Stefanik

Internet expressed disdain over Trump's endorsement of Stefanik.

A social media user tweeted, "Not sure a Trump endorsement is a good thing."

Another added, "Stefanik is a liar just like the rest of Trump's cult management team."

"Perhaps Trump should take her home to FL because she sure does not sound like someone from NY (Santos excepted), even if Republican. Is Trump from FL or NY? Never mind. I guess… it depends. Which has the more comfortable prisons?" read a tweet.

"She’s as corrupt as he is!" claimed a user.

"Clearly shows that she is a pathetic dumb a**," stated an individual.
